Florida Man 'Feels Like Batman' After Catching 8-Foot Alligator Barefoot in Jacksonville

On Sunday, April 21, 2024, a Florida man was seen grabbing an 8-foot alligator barefoot with his bare hands in Jacksonville, Florida. The man is Mike Dragich, a licensed trapper in the state of Florida and is an MMA fighter. Dragich has been called "The Blue Collar Brawler."

Mike Dragich Received a Call from Florida Fish and Wildlife

Mike Dragich was at a minor league ice hockey game with his kids on Sunday, 21 April 2024 when he got the call from Florida Fish and Wildlife about an 8-foot alligator on the loose on a street in Jacksonville. He is affiliated with the nuisance alligator program.

He left the ice hockey game to go capture the alligator and did it without any shoes on and with his bare hands. He picked it up and paraded down the street with his trophy and onlookers cheered for the hero that saved the day.

Dragich said:

"It was only five minutes from the game, so I literally left the game, caught the alligator, and then went back to the game." -Mike Dragich, "The Blue Collar Brawler"

You can see the footage in the YouTube video below.

Mike Was attending an Ice Hockey Game with his Kids

Mike told Inside Edition the following:

"I was at the hockey game with my kids so I wasn't prepared at that time to get the gator, so I just used what I had, which was my bare hands and my bare feet." -Mike Dragich, "The Blue Collar Brawler"

He said it all while smiling. Mike is an awesome guy, willing to help when he can to catch alligators.

Will the next Batman be Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, Orlando Bloom, or Joe Manganiello?

Orlando Bloom as Batman
Christian Bale and Orlando Bloom: Which will be the next Batman?

Christian Bale Offered Batman Role for $50 Million in Man of Steel Sequel

According to a Business Insider article, Warner Bros. has offered Christian Bale $50 Million to reprise his role as Batman in the Man of Steel sequel movie full of superheroes. Kirsten Acuna, who wrote the article, sources her information to an ebook titled: "Beyond Batman: The Unauthorized True Story of Christian Bale and His Dark Knight Dilemna." This ebook is by Vince Russel.

Does anybody know who Vince Russel is?

Russel apparently has some connection to a Legendary Pictures insider that speaks with authority on the subject.

Umm, I would be very careful before taking an ebook as a credible source. Anybody can write an ebook these days.

Let's take a moment to digress. If Christian Bale was really offered $50 Million by Warner Bros. for 20 minutes in a movie, then it is really greedy for Bruce Willis to ask for $4 Million USD for four consecutive days of filming?

If you put it that way, no.

Take a moment to read: Is Bruce Willis 'Greedy and Lazy' Like Sylvestor Stallone Says?

But wait, that's not all.

Orlando Bloom Would Be Instantly Granted Batman Role

An Access Hollywood article says that it is rumored that Orlando Bloom is being strongly considered to be the next Batman in the Justice League movie, and that he would be granted the part without a casting call. It must be nice to get a job without an interview.

Orlando Bloom as Bruce Wayne?

As a follower of the comic books and cartoon series, my opinion is that Christian Bale did not make a good Bruce Wayne, and I am ready for the reboot. Orlando Bloom would be a fresh Bruce Wayne in a business suit, although I can't picture Orlando Bloom as the right Bruce Wayne either.

Other actors considered to be on the short list to play Batman:

  1. Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf)
  2. Armie Hammer (Lone Ranger)
  3. Josh Brolin (Jonah Hex, MIB III)
  4. Ryan Gosling (Drive)
  5. Richard Armitage (The Hobbit)
  6. Joe Manganiello (True Blood)
  7. Matthew Goode (Watchmen)
  8. Max Martini (Pacific Rim)
So who's right, Business Insider or Access Hollywood?

Ben Affleck will be Bruce Wayne

Ben Affleck Will Be the Next Batman in the Man of Steel Sequel

Update (08/23/13): It's official. Ben Affleck has been announced as the next Batman. Neither Orlando Bloom nor Christian Bale will be taking the role.

Joe Manganiello Missed Out on both Batman and Superman Roles

Joe Manganiello missed out on the role of Batman, and previously passed over for the role of Superman, which went to Henry Cavill.

Who is Joe Manganiello?

He is the actor that was in True Blood.

This is what Joe Manganiello had to say about the missed opportunity of Superman:

"Well, I mean, the thing about Superman was it...I mean, I know the right one is out there for me...there wasn't anything I could do with Superman. There was interest from every single possible angle on that project, and the reason they were interested was because of True Blood. From the director, to casting, to the producers involved, it was all because of True Blood, that was why I was in the running. And at the end of teh day, it was True Blood's schedule that kept me from doing it. There's just no human way possible I could be in two places at once when I'm contracted to be on True Blood.

Is Joe Manganiello a little upset with his obligations to True Blood?

Sounds like he is brooding. Which is yet another reason why he could of been a great Batman.

2012 is the Year of Comic Book Movie Reboots

2012 is a year full of reboots.

Sorry. I am not referring to the awesome animated CGI-animated TV series, ReBoot, that aired from (1994 - 2002). If you are not familiar with the series, it is available on Netflix. Check it out.

I am talking about the next best thing. Comic book movies.

First, The Amazing Spiderman comes to theaters July 3.Then, The Dark Knight Rises makes its way to theaters on July 20. Finally, Dredd, a reboot of Judge Dredd (1995), hits theaters on Sept. 21.

Have you ever looked forward to a reboot?

What a valid question! To which I have you an answer.

But first let’s examine what reboots rarely do. From what we’ve seen, reboots often offer a new vision for a franchise, and rightfully so. After all, why would a reboot take the same path, and the same vein for the story? Well, for one thing, continuity is uber important for a franchise - especially a superhero franchise - unless the first movie(s) were flops.

Hulk (2003) and; The Incredible Hulk (2008) movies were a prime examples of this. While I didn’t think either movies were “flops” per say, they didn’t meet or exceed box office expectations.

But here’s why reboots are sometimes necessary. When one director/writer’s vision falls short, or gets something wrong, the only way to correct the flaw, is to reboot the franchise. In the comic book world, such a correction can be easily fixed with a retcon. A retcon is when a comic book writer must make a change to the history of a superhero, so that there isn’t an inconsistency in the hero’s past, based on a previous comic book.

Crave Online wrote about the five most shocking retcons in comic book history here.

But when a comic book movie franchise decides to change something in the story, that is inconsistent with the comic books, that essentially is where everything goes wrong. As one of my dear friends put it: Why change the story on superheroes when you have 50 years of storylines to build from?

Here are a few reasons why Hollywood makes changes:

  1. More appealing to worldwide markets (make up 70% of movie revenue)
  2. Old-fashioned ideas (that apparently don’t work in a Progressive America)
  3. The big wigs want a formula (A + B + C = blockbuster movie)
As a person that is not fond of reboots, I am actually looking forward to a reboot of Batman.

Let me explain why:
As a person that grew up watching Batman: The Animated Series as well as a comic book fan, I personally don’t find Christian Bale to capture the essence of Batman. He doesn’t do it for me. I am a true Batman fan. Bruce Wayne looks nothing like Christian Bale, and certainly does not act like Christian Bale. Of course, that is my own opinion.

That being said, I am ready for the next Batman reboot.

Don’t worry, folks, it won’t be that far away.

If you are a fan of the Batman Trilogy, the Batman Begins Tumbler can be found here. It is a collection of moving .gif pictures from the Batman Trilogy with Christian Bale. Quite interesting for the Batman fan.
