The Death of Walter White in Breaking Bad on AMC

Walter White and Jesse Pinkman

This post discusses the death of Walter White, and contains spoilers.

Breaking Bad was a Great Show

Breaking Bad was an American "neo-Western" crime drama that developed quite a cult following. It was a show about a chemistry teacher, Walter White - played by Bryan Cranston, and his student Jesse Pinkman - played by Aaron Paul.

The expression "breaking bad" means to turn to a life of crime, and that is what this show is about. Walter White created and sold crystal meth to better the life of his family. The show was about the situations and misfortunes that Walter White and Jesse Pinkman encountered as they sold crystal meth.

Breaking Bad Considered One of the Greatest Season Finales of all Time

It aired on the AMC channel for five seasons and culminated with the death of the beloved character Walter White in the 62nd episode titled "Felina." According to Wikipedia, there are several critics that call the Breaking Bad finale "the greatest season finale of all time."

How did Walter White die?

In the episode "Felina," Walter White is on the run during a manhunt. He must return to New Mexico to deliver the drug money to his family. During this time, Walter White is aware that his time is limited, and the cancer will soon take his life. With this in mind, Walter White visits former contacts to tie up loose ends, and get his affairs in order before his death.

The Final Scene for Walter White in Breaking Bad

This is how Walter White's life ends. He enters the meth lab for the last time, admiring the equipment. He holds a respirator and rubs on a kettle, his blood leaving a trail as he descends to the floor. Walter White was mortally wounded from machine gun fire at Jack's hideout earlier. This is Walter White's final scene, taking his last breath at his meth lab. Police rush in, guns drawn, and find Walter White down. They take his pulse and he is dead.

Netflix releases El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

There was a follow up to the AMC television series with a Netflix released titled: "El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie". In this movie, it shows the continuation for the character Jesse Pinkman after the AMC series ends. This was released on Netflix on October 11, 2019.

California Wildfire threatens Los Angeles Residents, Evacuation Order Issued

Sandalwood Fire

Wildfires in California are threatening Los Angeles residents. There was one death in Riverside County, which is east of Los Angeles. The Sandalwood fire went through a mobile home park, and destroyed at least 74 structures in the mobile home park. The Sandalwood fire has burned 500 acres. There were at least 1,000 firefighters battling the Sandalwood fire. Helicopters have been working through the night to battle the wildfires. The cause of the Sandalwood fire: a garbage truck dumped burning trash near dry grass and vegetation.

100,000 Los Angeles Residents Issued Evacuation Orders

The Los Angeles police chief Michel Moore said that an evacuation order issued is for 23,000 homes, covering 100,000 people. Los Angeles fire chief Ralph Terrazas said that "dry conditions and heavy wind have combined to create a very dynamic fire" urging residents to evacuate if ordered to. Terrazas said the fire is moving at an estimated 800 acres per hour.

Power returned to Northern California

Power company Pacific Gas and Electric Co. finally returned power to millions of Northern California residents on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019 after turning off the electricity as a preventative measure. The measure sparked outrage across the state, as critics claim that the failing company has not upgraded (modernized) its equipment in preparation for these situations. The Philadelphia Flyers have a Rage Room for Fans to Break Things

Philadelphia Flyers Rage Room

Fans of the Flyers have their own Rage Room

Philadelphia Flyers NHL club have opened the "Disassembly Room," also better known to many as a rage room at the Wells Fargo Center. The Wells Fargo Center also is home to the Philadelphia 76ers NBA team. The rage room is for fans to let out their "rage" and destroy items in the room, which include dishes, TVs, bottles, drinking glasses, and a fishbowl. The room is designed for someone that has a need to break something to let it all out and vent their frustrations with a hockey stick or a baseball bat.

A Philadephia Flyers executive - Valerie Camillo - believes this is a harmless way for fans to have fun at the venue.

The cost is $35 a person to go solo in the rage room, or $60 for two people at once. The room is hidden from a hidden bookcase in the library wall. Those participating must wear safety gear, such as a jumpsuit, a helmet and safety goggles.

"Safe House" in Philadelphia to be a "Safe Injection Site" for Illicit Drug Use

One judge in Philadelphia has ruled that Safehouse - a medically supervised location for drug use - does not violate the federal law. This ruling took place in the case United States v. Safehouse. The reasoning is that safehouses work in Canada to help people overcome drug addiction.

The Safehouse website claims that it is "a public health approach to overdose prevention in Philadelphia."

The Safehouse program would be located in the Kensington neighborhood in the Lower Northeast section of Philadelphia and North Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Inquirer named Kensington the "center of Philly's opioid crisis" in January 2018.

Five Breeding Bulls Found without Blood on Oregon Ranch, Remains a Mystery

Bull carcass found without genitals, tongue or blood

Five bulls have been found dead in Oregon at Silvies Valley Ranch across the Summer of 2019, and their deaths remain a mystery.

The President of the Ranch, Colby Marshall, says that these breeding bulls are valued at about $6,000.00 each, and weighed about 2,000 lbs. each. All ranch staff have been directed to go out in pairs armed for protection, as it is not easy to take down a bull in such a manner without leaving a drop of blood. In addition to the scene devoid of blood, the genitals and tongues were surgically removed, in addition to the bulls' insides.

Bull Carcass Found without Blood, Genitals or Tongues

The bulls were found without a drop of blood, with their insides removed, including their genitals and tongue surgically cut out. NPR writer Anna King describes it as experiencing a strange feeling walking up to the empty carcass. The coat is still shiny, there are no scavengers around the carcass, there is no blood, and the body of the bull carcass looks like a "deflated plush toy."

Oregon Sheriff says the Leading Theory is Alien Abductions

The Harney County Sheriff's office Deputy Dan Jenkins says that calls are coming in with tips, and the leading theory is that the bulls were abducted by aliens. The prevailing theory is that aliens beam the bull up, perform surgery on the bull and beam its carcass back down.

Lawsuit Claims Fortnite was Designed to be Addictive

Fortnite game case

Canadian Parents file Lawsuit against Epic Games

A lawsuit filed in Canada accuses Epic Games of making Fortnite too addictive. The lawsuit - filed by disgruntled parents - complains that players (including their children) had have to seek treatment for their Fortnite addiction. The lawyer, Jean-Philippe Caron, filed the lawsuit in the Quebec Superior Court on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019. The lawsuit goes on to say that Fortnite is so addictive that players have to seek treatment for their addiction, after player for hours without eating or showering. They state that the game's developer's even employed psychologists to make the game addictive.
The Yahoo! article can be read here.

Was the Fortnite video game created to be addictive?

Video games that offer rewards for playing can be addictive because they appeal to the brain's pleasure circuits in the amygdala and the orbitofrontal cortex, and were significantly stronger in men.

This was confirmed by David J Linden, Ph.D. in Psychology Today.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) filed Copyright Infringement Lawsuit against Fortnite in 2018

In 2018, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) filed a copyright infringement lawsuit in January 2018 against Epic Games because Fortnite's Battle Royale was "too similar" - this was reported in TheKoreaTimes. Both games use the Unreal Engine 4, but PUBG graphics are intended to be more realistic, while Fortnite graphics are cartoonish in nature.

Bloomberg reported that PUBG dropped its copyright infringement lawsuit against Fortnite.

The Glenlivet Whisky Capsule Collection resembles Tide Pods

The Glenlivet is making headlines because they have come up with a method of drinking whisky from a "capsule" that is a similar shape to Tide Pods. It is called the Glenlivet Capsule Collection. It is remarkable the shape of the whisky capsules in the Glenlivet Capsule Collection. The videos infer that the capsule is edible and made from seaweed. The Glenlivet probably is marketing this as convenient and easy way to drink whisky. (More on this announcement here.)

How does one ensure that the whisky in the capsule are nice and cold?

Many people that drink whisky like it "on the rocks" which is a term for on ice. Do the Glenlivet capsules refrigerate and freeze without any bursting issues?

Due to this announcement by The Glenlivet, Tide Pods was once again trending on Twitter, which should be a cause for alarm for parents.

Tide Pods was in the news when the Tide Pods Challenge was going on. Kids were putting Tide Pods in their mouth and getting sick, which requires a call to Poison Control.

Editor's Note: This blog discourages anyone attempting to eat Tide Pods and denounces the Tide Pods Challenge.

Nick Cannon had an Awkward Encounter with Oprah

Back when Nick Cannon was married to Mariah Carey, he had an opportunity to meet Oprah backstage after Mariah Carey performed on Oprah's show.

Nick Cannon recalls this while on "The Howard Stern Show."

He says: "The first time I met Oprah I made the dumbest mistake. Well, it wasn't the first time I met her, because I had seen her in passing and stuff, but at the time Mariah was on the show and we had just gotten married, so this is like my first real face to face conversation with her, " Cannon explained. "And se we're backstage in Chicago and Mariah just did her thing on the show, and Mariah's like "Hey Oprah, this is Nick."

"And like on of my favorite movies is 'The Color Purple,'" Cannon says. "So this is my opportunity to show Oprah how much I love 'The Color Purple,' so the first thing that comes out of my mouth is 'You told Harpo to beat me?"

"She (Oprah) looked at me, and Mariah's like 'I can't believe you just said that...' But I'm thinking everybody's gonna laugh," he said. "Oprah looked at me and we ain't been on the same page since. That was the most awkward moment I've had."

Popeyes Chicken Sandwich is Beating Chick-fil-A on Social Media

Popeyes Chicken Restaurant; Image credit: Michael Rivera
The Popeyes Chicken Sandwich craze continues to sweep the nation, and Chick-fil-A should be getting nervous. I tell you this from observation, I have eaten many Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches, and I do like them. I have not yet tried Popeyes new chicken sandwich, but this is a journal post about my unsuccessful attempt to "get at one" because people are lining up like it is going out of style.

I want to know if Chick-fil-A is going to up their chicken sandwich game, because so far their response to Popeyes new chicken sandwich has been very weak (in my opinion).

Most Food Reviews favor Popeyes Chicken Sandwich over Chick-fil-A

From just the past two weeks, I have read several chicken sandwich food reviews, one after another, and each continue to crown Popeyes with a better chicken sandwich in taste and value. The Popeyes chicken sandwich is approximately $3.98 and comes in spicy and regular.

Even Popeyes current website has a picture of their sandwich front and center, as if they are making a statement: "Come and get it, Chick-fil-A, because you are about to be dethroned." (This is what I imagine the caption would read, anyways).

Popeyes website promoting the new chicken sandwich

My Attempt to Legally Acquire a Popeyes Chicken Sandwich

Journal: On August 23, 2018, I found myself on my lunch break on a journey to the closest Popeyes in my hometown of Huntsville, AL. Fortunately, I work and live close to two different Popeyes. As I waited at the intersection, I didn't notice anything too unusual about the restaurant on the corner of University Drive and Jordan Lane. This location is typically busy during normal weekday lunch hour. So I waited patiently for the light to turn green. I turned into the parking lot to see that the drive-thru was overflowing out onto Jordan Lane and the parking lot was unusually packed. It was so full, that I watched the car in front of me get the very last open spot in the parking lot. At that moment, I realized that I am witnessing a phenomenon. Popeyes is already known for its outstanding chicken, but this latest movement in creating a delectable chicken sandwich continues to be re-posted on social media by "friends" that have not even themselves tried it. Two of them I know personally that have been posting about Popeyes chicken sandwich is better are even huge fans of Chick-fil-A. This is what baffles me the most. That unaware bystanders that have not even tried the sandwich are giving free advertising to Popeyes. So, on this Friday at lunch break. I did not stop in Popeyes to try this magical sandwich, because I physically could not park in the parking lot. So, this taste test will undoubtedly be pushed back to Saturday or Sunday so I can see for myself what all this commotion is about. And I may even go at odd hours. Who knows?

On August 24, 2019 I went to Popeyes at 8:30 p.m. and it was still packed inside and outside at the drive-thru. I was able to get a spicy chicken sandwich. I got it home and ate it and the results are: It tastes great. I agree with the food reviews that it is better than Chick-fil-A's chicken sandwich.

When will Popeyes chicken sandwich be back?

It is rumored that the Popeyes chicken sandwich will be back in October 2019.

Lastly, two true statements on how I stand on both companies:
I have eaten at Chick-fil-A many times, and I like Chick-fil-A.
I have eaten Popeyes many times, and I like Popeyes.
