I really like the Wisconsin cheese soup. The only problem is that Schlotzsky's Deli only offers it in a bowl, and not an individual cup of soup. This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Some people don't want to eat a bowl of soup. I wish Schlotzsky's Deli offered a cup size for their soups.

Recently, when I visited Schlotzsky's Deli on University Drive, they replaced the Wisconsin cheese soup with Broccoli cheese soup.

The cheese soups are very good, and you can order plain sourdough bread to dip into the soups. Now, if you could only order a cup of soup, it would be even better.

Duck Commander Phil Robertson (Duck Dynasty on A&E) spoke at SoCal Harvest 2013, which ended on Sunday August 25, 2013. With over 43,000 people in attendance, it truly was a soul harvest at the stadium, where the event took place. Over 9,000 people put their faith in Jesus during the three nights of SoCal Harvest 2013.

Phil Robertson, known as the original Duck Commander, spoke to everyone in attendance about life growing up in Louisiana. Phil Robertson is now a household name, due to the popular show on A&E, Duck Dynasty. Duck Dynasty has broken ratings records for a reality show on cable television.

Phil Roberston Shares on Loving Family Despite Their Problems

At SoCal Harvest 2013 Phil Robertson shared about the reality of his sons straying from God, and that a father still needs to show love to his children, despite their shortcomings in life. Phil Spoke about his oldest son, Alan, almost getting beat to death in New Orleans before making a decision to become a preacher and share the gospel. Phil said that he treated Alan like the prodigal son in the Bible, and showed him love despite his mistakes to go astray. Phil Robertson also mentioned that one of his other sons, obviously one that is currently on the show Duck Dynasty, got into drinking and drugs before the family intervened. He now has a wife and follows God.

The host of the event and pastor of (Harvest Church in Riverside, California) asked Phil Robertson: "Why should people at the stadium put their trust in Jesus Christ?"

Phil Robertson said, "Listen California, you've got two problems that you cannot fix...you cannot solve it. One of them is sin, and we've all sinned. And the second one is physical death; heart attack, gun shot, car wreck...we are all going to die...all of us are going six feet deep."

Earlier on Phil Robertson shared that he received the gospel of Jesus Christ at 28 years old, after living a lifestyle of drugs, sex, and rock and roll. The first time his sister came to him with a preacher, and the preacher didn't believe Phil was ready. About a year later, Phil sat down and listened to what the preacher had to say, and trusted in Jesus Christ.

In My Opinion...

I think Jersey Mike's should provide other side options besides just chips, but I can't complain about their delicious sub sandwiches. Some people would like to eat healthier, and I think introducing other sides, like potato salad, would be popular for Jersey Mike's Subs.

I thought it was great when Jersey Mike's took the money from one day's sales and donated all of it to a local charity. That was really a class act for Jersey Mike's to do that.

I have always wanted to try the Grilled Pastrami Reuben, #20 on the hot subs menu, but I can't get myself to order anything other than the Chipotle Cheese Steak sub, because it is that good!

Avoid Penalties with the IRS Tax Extension Deadline

Now that the April 15^th tax deadline is over, we can all relax again.

April 15, 2013 was the deadline to file individual tax returns to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This includes Form 1040, 1040A, & 1040EZ.

If you live in the U.S. and did not file by April 15, 2013, then hopefully you filed a six month extension – which can be done with Form 4868. Even if you file an extension, you still have to file your payment by April 15, 2013, or risk paying the late filing penalty. Now if the IRS owes you, you could be entitled to some interest on your money.

With a six-month extension, the last day to file individual tax returns to the IRS is: October 15, 2013.

Due to the Boston Marathon Bombing, residents of Suffolk County, MA are granted an automatic 3-month extension along with anyone who was in Boston area on April 15th. More information on this can be read here.

What is the Late Filing Penalty?

The IRS calculates the late filing penalty and charges interest based on the amount owed. If the IRS owes you money, there is no late filing penalty, and they may even pay you interest on your refund money.

I know many tax professionals that file extensions for themselves. They are sure to mail a check in to the IRS by April 15, 2013, because they know they owe money. They write a check over the amount that they think they owe, since they have not actually computed the actual amount owed yet. This is done to avoid paying a penalty or interest for any money owed to the IRS.

Then, when they file their own tax returns, they simply account for the tax payment, and they get the difference back from the IRS.

Is Joss Whedon creating a new TV Series for Fall 2013?

Why, yes he is, I am so glad you asked.

Joss Whedon is attempting to get his pilot for a TV series picked up on ABC.

What is it called?

The show is based on S.H.I.E.L.D. agents that work alongside the superheroes in the Marvel Universe, most notably the Avengers.

What does S.H.I.E.L.D. stand for?

Pre-1991 the acronym S.H.I.E.L.D. stood for: Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division

Post-1991, the acronym S.H.I.E.L.D. stands for: Strategic Homeland Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate.

Will Marvel comic book characters make any appearances in the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series?

Unknown, but Clark Gregg from the Avengers and Iron Man 2 will reprise his role as Agent Coulson.

Deadline.com reported in August 2012 that S.H.I.E.L.D. got the green light:

"S.H.I.E.L.D. will be written by Whedon and frequent collaborators, his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. Joss Whedon also is set to direct the pilot, schedule permitting. Production on the pilot, which marks the first live-action Marvel TV project to get a green light, will start immediately. Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Tancharoen executive produce with Jeffrey Bell and Marvel TV's Jeph Loeb."

ABC President Paul Lee said this about S.H.I.E.L.D. in an IGN interview:

"There is no question that it is part of the Marvel Universe. In fact, the story takes place after the battle for New York. This is S.H.I.E.L.D. They're following their own particular stories. There are characters in it, Coulson, who clearly comes from the Avengers. So it's part of the world, but we're going to be very, very careful that we don't tread on the toes of the features and build a whole new world. And that's what Joss Whedon does better than anybody else. He's built a world for us."

Fans should be very excited about this new Joss Whedon TV series.

Announcement: Samsung's New TV to Compete with Apple in 2013

Samsung is attempting to pre-empt Apple by releasing a portrait-style TV that boasts a transparent background.

Our world continues to move the way of Ray Bradbury’s book, “Fahrenheit 451,” where TV’s become such an important part of the lifestyle, that they take up entire walls (and people cannot unglue themselves from it long enough to do anything).

Samsung posted the above picture on their blog, Samsung Tomorrow. People are speculating what the picture is actually insinuating. I’ll leave it up to you to decide for yourself.

You may already know that Samsung Galaxy III smartphones outsold the iPhone in Q3 sales in 2012.

Samsung is trying to make waves before Apple releases the Apple TV that is supposed to shake up the television industry. According to the Mac Observer, Tim Cook went on record about seriously moving Apple into the television market.

If Apple does release TV’s in 2013, they will have to go head-to-head with Samsung in a battle of technology between two electronic giants.
