Why Did UPS Leave 'Unattended Packages' at the Clubhouse on Green Mountain in Huntsville, AL?
Why did UPS leave packages unattended at a clubhouse parking lot on Green Mountain?
That's what everyone wants to know after a local Huntsville man made the startling discovery on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Unattended packages left in a parking lot on Green Mountain |
Jim, a Huntsville man, found unattended packages in the clubhouse parking lot on Green Mountain on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. He sat for over an hour waiting for someone to return, but no one did while he was there.
WAFF 48 News Went to Green Mountain Clubhouse & Unattended Packages Were Gone
WAFF 48 News returned to this location later in the day with Jim, and the packages were gone. UPS sent a message saying that "they were trying to figure out what happened." WAFF also went to an address that was on one of the packages, which was about five miles away from this parking lot.
They checked with that homeowner, who confirmed that they had not received their package after several hours.
It is unknown if any of the packages left unattended were Christmas presents.
Local Resident Jim Spoke About Finding the Packages
Jim said:
“I mean this is an ethical dilemma at this point. Somebody just had total faith that nothing would happen to those packages up here. Thank you for thinking that way of the residents up here. But it only takes one person to take all of those. I just don’t understand what would be going through a driver’s mind to just unload them and leave them unprotected.”
Jim also said:
“It’s almost unfathomable at this point. But you see it all the time, porch pirates,” He said concerned. “At this point they would have had early Christmas if they’d have pulled into this parking lot.”
The UPS spokesperson said, "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. UPS takes the security of customers' packages very seriously and we're looking into the situation."
Have you ever experienced an issue with UPS or delayed delivery on a package?

Vanderbilt Football Quarterback Diego Pavia Filed a Lawsuit Against the NCAA in Federal Court for Player Eligibility
Vanderbilt Quarterback Diego Pavia isn't happy that he has limited eligibility to play at a Division I school due to NCAA bylaws restricting junior college players. He argues that he should have two more years of eligibility in his lawsuit.
Vanderbilt Quarterback Diego Pavia speaking to Paul Finebaum |
According to ESPN, Diego Pavia "filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee in Nashville, requesting an injunction that would prevent the NCAA from enforcing its bylaws regarding junior college player limits and grant Pavia two more seasons of eligibility."
In the lawsuit, it argues "the rules stifle the competition in the labor market for NCAA Division I football players, harming college athletes and degrading the quality of Division I football consumed by the public."
The lawsuit states: "Because Pavia cannot relive his short college career, the harm inflicted by the JUCO Eligibility Limitations Bylaws is irreparable and ongoing, and temporary and preliminary injunctive relief is necessary." Pavia wants to "put a stop to the unjustified anticompetitive restriction on universities who seek to compete for college athletes, and to restore freedom of economic opportunity for himself and other college football players."
The NCAA's stated mission is "to promote the well-being of college athletes" and Pavia's lawsuit argues that the "harms [caused] are contrary to the Defendant's stated mission of promoting the well-being of college athletes" that are former Junior College (JUCO) football players "who are harmed by this illegal restraint, and have a small window of time to compete in Division I football." (Source: ESPN)
Junior College Transfers Face 'Unfair' Eligibility Restrictions at Division I Schools
Currently, junior college transfers face eligibility restrictions "that are not placed on athletes who choose to delay entry to a Division I NCAA college to attend prep school, compete professionally in another sport, or serve in the military." This is what happened to Diego Pavia, and his lawsuit fights for himself and other football players in his situation.
The NCAA bylaws start the player's eligibility clock at the time they enter a two-year school (i.e. a junior college) - even if he or she does not play, including those that redshirt and the four-year eligibility limit.
Diego Pavia Transferred from a Junior College to a Division I School
Diego Pavia played two seasons at New Mexico Military Institute, which is a two-year junior college before he transferred to New Mexico State. There he played from 2022-2023, and enrolled in Vanderbilt in June with only one year of Division I eligibility left to play college football, according to NCAA bylaws.
Vanderbilt has beat Alabama and Auburn in this year's college football season and helped revive Vanderbilt's football program.
Questions for the reader:
Do you think the NCAA should change its bylaws regarding JUCO football players' eligibility at Division I football schools?
Do you think Diego Pavia should be allowed to play at Vanderbilt for two more years?

Tesla 'We, Robot' Event Had Electric Robovans and Robotaxis and Bartending Optimus Robots
Elon Musk unveils his vision about the future of Tesla at the ‘We, Robot’ event on October 10, 2024, where robots danced and posed for photos. The secret got out that the robots were being remotely controlled by humans.
Below is a preview of my full interactive article on Medium. Go to the original article to watch the videos embedded from X.com.
Ifyou didn’t attend the ‘We, Robot’ event on October 10, 2024, held at Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, California, well you certainly missed an opportunity to be served drinks or to get a selfie with Optimus Gen 2.
The event turned out to not only be a reveal of the robo-taxis and robo-vans, but also a more in-depth glimpse at the Optimus Gen 2 robots.
Unveiling of Optimus Robots at ‘We, Robot’ Event
Elon Musk posted the following video clip from the ‘We, Robot’ event on Thursday night.
Elon Musk: ‘Whatever you can think of, it will do’
At the ‘We, Robot’ event, Elon Musk — the visionary — said:
“It will do anything you want,” Musk said. “It can be a teacher, babysit your kids, walk your dog, mow your lawn, do your groceries, be your friend, serve drinks. Whatever you can think of it will do, and yeah, it’s gonna be awesome.
I think this will be the greatest product ever of any kind because I think every one of the 8 billion people of Earth, I think everyone is going to want their Optimus buddy, and there’s gonna be maybe two.” -Elon Musk, Tesla CEO
But just because Uncle Elon said it, doesn’t mean that you should let the Optimus Robot babysit your kids, although I wouldn’t mind if it would wash my car regularly.
The price tag, according to Elon Musk, “will be between $20,000 to $30,000, once they are produced at scale.”
Below is an image showing people interacting and posing for photos with an Optimus Gen 2 robot at the event.
Don’t Forget About the Tesla Robo-Taxis!
The wow factor of the Optimus bots “among humans” may have overshadowed that this was originally set to be the date for the unveiling of the Tesla taxis.
Those in attendance were able to ride in the Tesla taxis at Warner Bros. studios, which had pre-determined routes for the taxis to give free rides.
Below is an image of Elon Musk getting into a Tesla taxi “robo-taxi” coupe.
Also seen (pictured below) is a futuristic-looking Tesla “robo-van” bus.
Below you can see a video clip of the Tesla RoboVan at the event.
Optimus Robots at the After Party
“The Optimus robots will walk among you,” said Elon Musk at the ‘We, Robot’ event, which was met with cheers in the audience. He continued, “Please be nice to the Optimus robots, so you’ll be able to walk right up to them, and um, they’ll serve drinks at the bar…” (see photo below of an Optimus handing out gift bags at the after party)
Do the Robots use A.I. or Not…That is the Question
Jalopnik reported that the Optimus robot bartending (seen in the clip below) may not have been operating autonomously at all, claiming that it was actually being remote-controlled by a Tesla employee.
Jalopnik reported that “AI enthusiast” Robert Scoble flat-out asked a Tesla Optimus robot “Hey Optimus, how much of you is actually AI?”
The robot’s operator replied, “I would say, it might be some,” and that it was something he would have to find out later. That interaction can be seen below.
The more important question that lingers after this interaction is, “Will humans be remotely controlling the future commercial Optimus robots for sale, or will the robots be 100% autonomous?”
The Verge: Tesla Fans Were Impressed at ‘We, Robot’ Event
The Verge reported, “There were plenty of Tesla fans who were thoroughly impressed by what they saw last night and ready to declare that it was “game over” for every other player in the field. The Robo-van wowed many with its Art Deco styling. And positive vibes extended to the company’s most bullish investors, some of whom participated in Musk’s theme park experience and came away forever altered.”
The event gave attendees a glimpse into Elon Musk’s vision of the future, which appears very lucrative for Musk if every person buys two Tesla Optimus “buddies.”
This could deepen the gap between the rich and the poor if only the elite can afford Optimus bots.
Reader Poll: What do you think about the future of Tesla with this ‘We, Robot’ event? (share your thoughts in the comments)

Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max Lag Issues Run Deep Down to the Core of Apple Intelligence
People that have bought the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are experiencing issues with the performance of Siri and the iOS 16 operating system, saying that it is "lagging." Some users have weighed in on the Apple Community forum about problems they are experiencing.
Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max |
Siri Becomes 'Deeply Integrated' into Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max
Apple shared from its website how integrated Siri is with its latest models on its website that with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max:
"Siri becomes more deeply integrated into the system experience and gets a brand-new design with an elegant glowing light that wraps around the edge of the screen when active. With richer language-understanding capabilities, communicating with Siri is more natural and flexible. Siri follows along when users stumble over their words, and maintains context from one request to the next. Users can type to Siri at any time, and switch fluidly between text and voice as they accelerate everyday tasks. Siri also now has extensive product knowledge to answer thousands of questions about features on iPhone and other Apple devices."
Is Apple Intelligence Slowing Down the iPhone 16 Pro Max?
Apple promotes Apple Intelligence on the new iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max as being something fancy that delivers speed based on their description below.
Apple shared from its website the following about Apple Intelligence:
"Apple Intelligence on the iPhone 16 lineup harnesses the power of Apple silicon and Apple-built generative models to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from personal context to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks. Apple Intelligence maintains the privacy and security of user data with Private Cloud Compute. This groundbreaking approach provides the ability to flex and scale computational capacity between on-device processing and larger, server-based models that run on dedicated Apple silicon servers — an extraordinary step forward for privacy in artificial intelligence. Apple Intelligence will be available as a free software update, with the first set of features rolling out next month in U.S. English for most regions around the world."
Apple Intelligence on the new iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max may not deliver the speed until some of the bugs are worked out of the software. Some iPhone owners are experiencing the opposite of what Apple is describing. Keep reading to see what some people are experiencing lag with slow processing speed.
Why is Apple Intelligence Lagging for iPhone 16 Pro Max?
Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max users have been disappointed with the performance of their new phones.
Antoni_k posted a message on the Apple Community website about issues he is having with his new iPhone 16 Pro Max.
He wrote:
"I recently bought an iPhone 16 Pro Max and it is almost impossible to use. When I want to take a picture the phone constantly goes back to lock or appears a circle of death. In addition, when I want to search for something that starts with the letter "s" in "Siri suggestion" my iPhone but not only because my iPad also starts to lag. IOS 16 is currently impossible to use smoothly and effectively. Should I do something about my iPhone cameras or wait for the next update?"
Another iPhone 16 Pro Max user 'chrisbettura' posted on the community forum how disappointed he is with the iPhone 16 Pro Max with this response:
"AMEN! My iPhone 14 Pro was way faster, Siri dictation is so dang slow. I’m losing my mind. I feel like I’ve been warped back to the iPhone 3G.!! All that money for a phone that’s slower and lags worse than models that came out 15 years ago, are you kidding me? This is what I was waiting for. Shame on you, Apple., also not cool to play tricks on everybody regarding Apple Intelligence, knowing that it was not available, but to to the phone as the key reason to go out and buy one.
I have owned every single iPhone since the very first one and have been a loyal Apple owner for all products since it’s inception, if that age is me, oh well, but I’m very disappointed in the performance of this phone!!!"
What do you think? Do you own an iPhone 16 Max Pro? Are you experiencing any of these issues?
If so, please share your experience in the comments.

Samuel L. Jackson Discussing Pulp Fiction with GQ Magazine
Hollywood celebrity Samuel L. Jackson sat down with GQ to discuss some of his past roles and shares that he would now rather choose to play a blockbuster Marvel role than try to "handpick" roles in the hunt to try to win an Oscar.
Samuel L. Jackson |
Samuel L. Jackson: "Who, who watches this?"
GQ Magazine: "So it goes on our YouTube channel and also on GQ.com. It's got pretty big viewership, I feel like your episode is gonna be a particularly special episode...millions of viewers."
Samuel L. Jackson: "And they got 40 minutes worth of [expletive] to say?"
Samuel L. Jackson and his Role in Pulp Fiction
First they spoke about his role of Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction.
Quentin Tarantino and Lawrence Bender |
Samuel L. Jackson: "I had auditioned for Reservoir Dogs and didn't get it, cause I auditioned with Quentin [Tarantino] and Lawrence Bender and they were horrible so I saw him at Sundance [movie festival] at the first screening of Reservoir Dogs and he said, 'How'd you like the guy that got your part?' so he remembered me. I was like, 'You remembered me?' [Tarantino said], 'Yes, yes, I'm writing something, I'll send it, you'll get it.' I did get the script like 2 weeks later and it came in a little brown bag with some gangsters on the front of it and it said, 'If you show this to anybody, I will find you and kill you.' So...and I read it, I was like [expletive]. Really? I couldn't believe it, so I flipped it over and read it again immediately. Okay, if they shoot this movie, and let it be what it is right here on the page, it's going to be awesome...but we didn't shoot exactly what was on the page, but we still got through it."
Samuel L. Jackson: "If I want to change something, I'll write it and show it to him and he'll either okay it or say, 'No.' I've been allowed to change things but I don't do it in front of other people. In Pulp Fiction, in the original script, in the diner when Tim first comes over and he asks about the briefcase, he opens it up, and when he opens it up, I shoot Honey Bunny off the bar, and then I shoot his ass, and kill him. They do a cut, and then I open my eyes and that's what I would have done before I got the vision in the house and I don't kill anybody and he's still standing there, so that's not there."
Samuel L. Jackson: "I mean, there are people who do their whole careers and nobody remembers anything. A lot of things I saw in movies, people still say to me, so I don't know if it's me, if its the writing. My favorite line from Pulp Fiction is: 'What country are you from? What language do they speak in what?'"
