Ridley Scott Making Gladiator Sequel

One of my favorite movies of all time has to be Gladiator (2000) featuring Russell Crowe, and directed by Ridley Scott.

Gladiator the movie was about a Roman general that was stripped of his rank and position due to corrupt politics, and sought out revenge from the emperor responsible for the death of his wife and child.

Moviefone and other news sources reported on Nov. 1, 2018 that a Gladiator sequel movie is in development. This project is being financed by Paramount studios, with a possible funding partnership with Universal studios. According to the article, Ridley Scott has wanted to do a sequel to Gladiator for years.

The sequel would now follow Lucius, the son of Lucius Verus in the original movie.

Editor's note: I assume that Lucius grows up to become a gladiator, inspired by Maximus, played by Russell Crowe in the original Gladiator. Ridley Scott did an amazing job with the first movie, and I can only hope the sequel is as good as the first. It is unlikely that Russell Crowe would actually be in new footage for this sequel, but they may do some flashbacks using cut scenes from the original Gladiator movie from Lucius' memories as a young boy.
