Why Chef Katsuji Tanabe Abruptly Left the NBC Cooking Show 'Yes, Chef!'

Many viewers of the show, Yes, Chef!, airing on NBC want to know why Chef Katsuji Tanabe was seen at the beginning of episode 5, "Chefs Rank," for about 3 minutes and 30 seconds, and then in the next scene you hear Peter say, "and  then there were eight." This post will tell you why he left abruptly mid-episode.

Was Chef Katsuji a Villain in the NBC Show, 'Yes, Chef?'

Chef Katsuji Tanabe on NBC's cooking competition Yes, Chef! was very much a polarizing character to the point of doing selfish things that made him a reality show villain. He frequently labeled himself as the "best chef in the kitchen" several times in the 4 complete episodes he was in, but something happened to him at the beginning of episode 5, titled "Chefs Rank."

This was very unexpected, because in many ways Chef Katsuji was very much the villain at times, such as the infamous episode where he takes all of the eggs during episode 3, "What's in the Box?" where Chef Katsuji is given the hardest task of making spheres via "Spherification," and fails miserably at the task, despite telling José Andrés that he can play around with it and essentially figure it out, but he is unable to achieve the task. Lee successfully wins the Spherification challenge, and gains admiration from Chef José Andrés for this win.

*Spherification is a culinary process that involves using sodium alginate to form liquid into spheres.

At the end of the episode 3, Chef Katsuji maintains that he is playing the game by taking all of the eggs, while other chefs desperately need eggs to make their dish, but the move was purely out of gameplay to keep others from using the eggs in a pure villainous move.

In episode 4, Peter was in charge, but could not cook, and Chef Katsuji was placed on Peter's team with Christopher. Chef Katsuji was clearly annoyed that neither of his dishes was selected by Peter, but their team still won the challenge thanks to Christopher's skilled dishes, elevating first a hot dog and then nachos.

Chef Katsuji is Seen at the Beginning of Episode 5, Chefs Rank

He was seen with the group at the beginning of episode 5 as they listened to co-host José Andrés, but this scene is cut about 3 minutes and 30 seconds in, and when the competition resumes, Chef Katsuji is no longer in the competition. He was last seen in episode 5 patting Peter on the shoulder, considering that Peter had the guts to not put out either of Katsuji's dishes in the challenge the just took place in episode 4.

At the 4:40 into the episode José Andrés says, "We are starting with one less chef than expected, and that "Chef Katsuji had to leave the competition."

Distractify reported that "Martha Stewart said that Katsuji decided to self eliminate."

The best new TV show of 2014 is The Flash on the CW.  Actor Grant Gustin plays Barry Allen, a super smart 20 something who is a CSI detective on the police force.  He is zapped into a coma the night that the particle accelerator exploded, sending a massive shockwave through Central City.  As a result, rather ordinary people gained superpowers, depending on their circumstances when they were hit by the shockwave.  In the show, these people with superhuman powers are called "meta humans." Barry Allen is just learning how to control his powers, and faces new challenges when meta humans go rogue, using their superpowers for evil.  Throughout the first season, Barry Allen must face the fact that his secret love - Iris West - must never know that he is the Flash, because it could put her life in danger.

The Flash is a spectacular show on the CW, and is a perfect fit with The Arrow already in its weekday lineup. This is why Z. Love's Entertainment Blog has picked The Flash as the best new television show of 2014.

Stalker on CBS is the Worst New Television Show of 2014

The worst new TV show of 2014 was Stalker on CBS.  Many different television critics voted Stalker as the worst new TV show of 2014, on CBS.

Some critics say that it is simply isn't cool to glorify stalking women in a television show.  It is just plain creepy.

This show stars Dylan McDermott as the lead detective, along with Maggie Q.  But, critics say the script is "bland and boring," or just "uninteresting." They have gone as far as saying Stalker is just a "trashy" version of CSI, and that it was just a plain failure for CBS.

They were trying to compete with Fox's cult show, The Following, but Stalker never gained solid ground.  That is why it is the worst new television show of 2014.

New Marvel TV Show Agent Carter Premieres on ABC

The Marvel TV show, Agent Carter, is coming to ABC on Tuesday January 6, 2015 at 8 p.m. Eastern.  ABC calls her a "One Woman Army," in the previews for the TV show.  Agent Peggy Carter is played by Hayley Atwell.


The Marvel TV show on ABC, Agent Carter, is based on the character Peggy Carter first featured in the 2011 movie, Captain America: The First Avenger.

In this movie, Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) played a strong woman, desensitized to the abundant supply of male ego, and seemed to have a tough outer shell in the first Captain America movie.  Towards the end of the movie, it was revealed that Steve Rogers (Captain America) had feelings for her, and she also liked him.  This is made evident when she kisses him as he is jumping from the car from the runway onto Red Skull's plane.  She also saw that Steve Rogers had a picture of her out as he was trying to pilot the aircraft before it crashed into the Arctic.

What is the ABC TV show Agent Carter about?

The ABC TV show Agent Carter is based in 1946, and U.S. troops are returning home from the war.  Agent Carter works for the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR).  Agent Carter is given secret missions by Howard Stark, while maintaining a cover of typical administrative work at a phone company.

In the previews, her friend says, "You work at the phone company...it ain't life and death." Agent Peggy Carter walks out of the room and says: "You have no idea."

In the first episode of Agent Carter on ABC, Peggy is contacted by Howard Stark (played by Dominic Cooper), and he needs Peggy to help clear his name.  He gives her his butler, Edwin Jarvis, at her disposal.  Howard Stark takes off in a motorboat, on the run, because he has been framed for unleashing a deadly weapon.

In episode two of Agent Carter, this deadly weapon that Howard Stark was accused of unleashing, has fallen into enemy hands, and Agent Carter must recover it to save the day.

Michonne Character Spotlight from the Walking Dead Television Show on AMC

Michonne is one character in the hit AMC television show, The Walking Dead, that I wouldn't want to mess with. She is played by actress Danai Gurira.

Michonne's weapon of  choice is the Katana sword.  She would rather slice zombies with her sword, than worry about shooting and reloading. Although, Michonne has carried a gun in the television show. In Season 5, episode 2, Michonne comes across a zombie, and beats it in the head with the butt of her automatic rifle, because she is without her favorite Katana sword. Michonne makes her first appearing in AMC The Walking Dead television show at the end of Season 2. She shows up mysteriously in the woods as a hooded figure with a Katana, and decapitates a zombie that is attacking Andrea. It shows her with two zombies shackled behind her. They have no arms, and no jaws, because they were cut off, for obvious reasons. In this Season 2 episode, "Beside the Dying Fire," it is revealed that this is the character Michonne from the graphic novel.

Where Michonne's Two Chained Walkers and Katana Sword Come From

Later in the series, Michonne has a flashback, which reveals that one of the walkers was her boyfriend, Mike, and the other is his best friend Terry. Mike was bitten by a walker trying to break into the house. Michonne bandages him up, but this is before she understands that he will turn into a zombie. Michonne searches a neighbor's house for medical supplies. In her search, she finds a Katana sword. When she returns home, both Mike and Terry have become zombies.

Michonne is angry with Mike and Terry for getting high, which ultimately led to them being bit by walkers, and resulting in the death of her young son, Andre. She keeps them alive because they were her "last link" to her past life, before the zombie apocalypse.

In Season 3, Mike and Terry start to make too much noise while she has taken cover, so she kills decapitates them. Otherwise, the Governor, and his band of men would have found her spying on them. The benefit of keeping zombies Mike and Terry around, was because walkers don't eat walkers, and they helped keep Michonne somewhat camoflauged from zombies lurking nearby.

At the end of Season 4 in the Walking Dead finale, Michonne's Katana sword is confiscated by the Termites. However, the surviving Termites become The Hunters, and kidnap Bob and eat his leg. They plan on harming Rick's group at the church and eating them too, so they come up with a plan to stop them. At the end of Season 5, episode 3, the Hunters are stopped, and Michonne gets her Katana sword back. She is pretty happy to see it in one of the enemy's packs.

Conclusion: Michonne is a pretty tough character on this hit television show on AMC. Zombies don't stand a chance.

Sci-fi Show, 'The 100' Season 1 on the CW 

The 100 on the CW is a sci-fi drama based on a book series by Kass Morgan.

The show takes place in a future where the Earth was abandoned due to nuclear war 97 years earlier, forcing humans to look to space for survival. They built and live in a space station orbiting above the Earth, with the capability of coming back to Earth with shuttles. As food and water begins to deplete, the leaders aboard the space station have to make hard decisions. They first decide to send 100 of their delinquents down to Earth to see if it is habitable. In reality, the leaders knew this would be a death sentence, to give those aboard the station a better chance with less people to drain the ship's resources. To monitor #The100 on the Earth, each juvenile is fitted with a vital signs bracelet. As life signs abruptly end, the space station begins to think that The 100 are unable to survive on the Earth.

The 100 land on Earth (in once was the Eastern U.S.) and find out that the planet is habitable, and that there are humans that did survive on Earth this whole time. These humans appear to be feudal and aggressive toward outsiders, particularly The 100 that "fell from the sky."

For the duration of Season 1, The 100 mainly takes place at the base camp that they have built on Earth, and the scenes back up inside the space station. However, in episode 13, the surviving 100 members are gassed by an unknown group and the episode ends inside a quarantine unit inside of Mount Weather. This indicates that there was a group of surviving humans that still possess technology and modern equipment.

The sci-fi show, 'The 100' on the CW ended with suspense, and the CW did not hesitate to pick up the show for a 2nd Season.

According to TVSeriesFinale.com, they partly credit the CW for airing The 100 right after Arrow as the lead-in show. The 2.7 million viewers on the Season 1 premiere was a great start for the sci-fi show, and ended with almost 1.7 million viewers.

The New Format for Judge Judy Reality Court TV Show

Judge Judy is one of my favorite reality TV shows, and I like the fact that it is not scripted. I watch it regularly, and about the beginning of June 2014 or shortly after, I noticed that there is a new format to the court show. There are now three cases shown instead of two.

Old Format to the Judge Judy Reality Court TV Show

The old format was they showed two courtroom cases edited down to within a 30 minute slot, which is about 8 minutes worth of commercials. So two cases to fit within 22 minutes is 11 minutes given to each case.

After each individual case, they would allow the Plaintiff and Defendant to make comments on the ruling of the case.

The New Format to Judge Judy Reality Court TV Show

The new format that started in June 2014 on Judge Judy is to fit three cases within the 22 minutes of show. The new format does not show what the Plaintiff and Defendant says after case #1 and case #2, which they previously showed. They do show what the Plaintiff and Defendant say after the 3rd case.

I have also noticed that it seems that Judge Judy seems to be telling the Plaintiff and Defendant to "work it out" among themselves more, and giving them the option to work it out on their own. I think that it's probably really good advice too, since taking someone to small claims court can end a friendship or relationship with a family member.

Is the New Format Better?

I am not ready to make a judgment on whether the new format to Judge Judy reality court TV show is better or worse. The main issue is whether the content is still there. People in general want to watch interesting people, and interesting cases.

The typical case on Judge Judy is over failure to pay rent, or damages to a rental home. If there is an interesting person on, you want to see more air time with this interesting person on the show. So in that sense, squeezing 3 cases into 22 minutes could affect the content due to editing the cases down.

Overall, I still enjoy watching Judge Judy reality court TV show, despite the new format that has taken place. Judge Judy reality court TV show gets Z.Love's "Stamp of Approval."

'The Killing' Gets Six Final Episodes on Netflix

The former AMC show, 'The Killing' will have a formal ending now that Netflix has picked it up for six final episodes of season 4. AMC cancelled the show twice, but 'The Killing' will still get its final six episodes on Netflix.

AMC originally cancelled the show after season 2, but decided to bring it back for a third season. It was cancelled after season 3, until Netflix decided to pick it up.

Netflix Offers New Seasons of Established Shows

Netflix, which surged in popularity for its convenient movies by mail service, also moved into the digital streaming world, offering many movies as well as television shows. Netflix as of late has now moved into creating its own shows as well as picking up or renewing shows that have ended.

A prime example being the show 'Arrested Development'. Netflix renewed 15 more episodes of season 4 of Arrested Development exclusively for their brand.

Other original shows exclusive to Netflix include 'Orange is the New Black' and 'House of Cards'.

What is 'The Killing' About?

'The Killing' is about two homicide detectives, Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder. The first two seasons of the show focused on the Rosie Larsen case, and the third season is about a new set of murders after detective Sarah Linden is no longer with Seattle Police as a homicide detective.

The show, 'The Killing' is filmed in Vancouver and is produced by Fox Television Studios.

'The Killing' is Perfect for Netflix

The Vice President of original content for Netflix, Cindy Holland, believes a season 4  of 'The Killing' is perfect for Netflix. She says, "We are looking forward to offering fans - both existing and new - a series that we know is perfectly suited for on demand viewing."

In response, the President at Fox TV studios, David Madden, said: "We're gratified that our partners at Neflix recognized this."

Judge Joe Brown Television Show Cancelled in 2013

According to TheRoot.com, Judge Joe Brown has been cancelled from television. CBS has axed his show due to a 17% ratings drop. The Hollywood Reporter reported that Judge Joe Brown was making $20 million a year. CBS Television Distribution wanted Judge Joe Brown to take a salary cut due to his ratings drop, but he wouldn’t, and his show has been cancelled. It has been a good 15 seasons, and it is time for Judge Joe Brown to say farewell to judging cases on the air with CBS.

Judge Joe Brown is a former Criminal Court judge from Shelby County, Tennessee, but was born and raised in South Central, L.A. He got his degree from UCLA.

Wikipedia says, “Joe Brown is the first black male to preside over a courtroom television show and the first black person to preside over a “long-running” courtroom seres…” Obviously, this statement was before the breaking news that Judge Joe Brown's courtroom TV series has been cancelled.

Other television distributors could pick up where CBS left off, but chances are they won’t pay $20 million a year.

Judge Joe Brown was originally discovered by the producers of Judge Judy. His set is located next to the set of Judge Judy’s in Sunset Bronson Studios in California, and both are produced by Big Ticket Television and syndicated by CBS Television Distribution.

Judge Judy - which airs on the CW – apparently made $45 million a year (as of 2012). That’s more than any other personality on TV. David Letterman makes $28 million (as of 2012) and Jay Leno made $25 million (as of 2012). For scripted drama, Mark Harmon from NCIS is the highest paid television star making $11 million for a full season.

Is Joss Whedon creating a new TV Series for Fall 2013?

Why, yes he is, I am so glad you asked.

Joss Whedon is attempting to get his pilot for a TV series picked up on ABC.

What is it called?

The show is based on S.H.I.E.L.D. agents that work alongside the superheroes in the Marvel Universe, most notably the Avengers.

What does S.H.I.E.L.D. stand for?

Pre-1991 the acronym S.H.I.E.L.D. stood for: Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division

Post-1991, the acronym S.H.I.E.L.D. stands for: Strategic Homeland Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate.

Will Marvel comic book characters make any appearances in the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series?

Unknown, but Clark Gregg from the Avengers and Iron Man 2 will reprise his role as Agent Coulson.

Deadline.com reported in August 2012 that S.H.I.E.L.D. got the green light:

"S.H.I.E.L.D. will be written by Whedon and frequent collaborators, his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. Joss Whedon also is set to direct the pilot, schedule permitting. Production on the pilot, which marks the first live-action Marvel TV project to get a green light, will start immediately. Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Tancharoen executive produce with Jeffrey Bell and Marvel TV's Jeph Loeb."

ABC President Paul Lee said this about S.H.I.E.L.D. in an IGN interview:

"There is no question that it is part of the Marvel Universe. In fact, the story takes place after the battle for New York. This is S.H.I.E.L.D. They're following their own particular stories. There are characters in it, Coulson, who clearly comes from the Avengers. So it's part of the world, but we're going to be very, very careful that we don't tread on the toes of the features and build a whole new world. And that's what Joss Whedon does better than anybody else. He's built a world for us."

Fans should be very excited about this new Joss Whedon TV series.

Angus T. Jones Calls 'Two and a Half Men' "Filth" in Interview

Angus T. Jones, star of the CBS show, ‘Two and a Half Men,’ did an interview from his trailer on the Warner Bros. lot, revealing some shocking news about his feelings on his current role on the sitcom.

Angus T. Jones says in the interview: “Please don’t watch Two and a Half Men…I’m on ‘Two and a Half Men’ and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it. Please stop filling your head with filth.” Angus T. Jones also says, “You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that.”

Angus T. Jones shares in the interview that he visited many churches before trying out a Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) on a Saturday. He felt this was a natural fit for him, and that the particular sermon preached that day was tailor-made just for him, as he says in the interview.

Chuck Lorre has not yet publicly commented on Angus T. Jones recent interview, but he has no doubt heard the news of the Angus T. Jones interview.

Chuck Lorre had a public feud with Charlie Sheen in 2011, after Charlie Sheen was kicked off of the show, and Sheen went on record to publicly disparage Chuck Lorre, the show’s producer. Chuck Lorre fired back with his own version of the events leading up to Charlie Sheen's exit. Charlie Sheen then followed his departure with his own 'Torpedo of Truth' tour, going onstage in major U.S. cities, telling his own side of the story.

Angus T. Jones recent comments come after getting saved in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was being interviewed by the Forerunner Chronicle, which is associated with the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

The real question is: Will Angus T. Jones continue acting on the show, ‘Two and a Half Men,’ for the remainder of the season or will they kick him out like they did Charlie Sheen?

Angus T. Jones makes $350,000.00 per episode, more than one person’s typical annual salary.

Since the Angus T. Jones interview, Charlie Sheen has offered Angus T. Jones a role on his show, "Anger Management."

Secret Princes on TLC is Very Entertaining to Watch

The show Secret Princes on the cable network TLC is very entertaining to watch.

These princes are truly fighting to find their true love - someone that will fall for them without first knowing their title and status. The only problem is that they may have to lie about who they are, and why there are camera-men following them around everywhere.

There are four princes, but two of them claim to be "more royal" (as a direct heir to the crown), than the two from the U.K. They have come over to the U.S. to find true love. They live in a run down house in Atlanta, and are undercover with a fake name and story as they search for love interests.

Two of the princes from the U.K. work as servers/laborers for a local business, and the Spanish prince and the Indian Prince work for a dog business. They have to pick up dog poop as one of their duties. Prince Salauddin Babi of India finds picking up dog poop utterly repulsive and beneath him.

I find the show very hillarious and entertaining because these princes do not know how to do most of the tasks given to them. The Indian prince, called "Salad" for short, has to carry his own luggage from the taxi to the house, and he finds it much harder than it looks. He shares that he has never had to ever do that before with servants at home.

All four secret princes admit that they have no clue how to do their own laundry.

Two episodes into this season has revealed that Lord Robert Walters of the U.K. has no trouble at all talking to women, and is continually stealing them away from the other lords, particularly Prince Salauddin Babi of India, and Ludovic Watson of the U.K., as they have the least experience in talking to women. Prince Francisco of Spain has a good American accent, and does not have trouble talking to women. Lord Robert Walters, (known as "Tate Morgan" on the show), considers Prince Francisco (known as "Cisco") as his biggest threat in the household when it comes to meeting women. Prince Salauddin Babi of India shares with the other princes that if he doesn't find his true love in America, then he will most likely go back home to India and have an arranged marriage as the Indian tradition follows.

It was also very humorous when Prince Salauddin Babi came into the house and made a big deal over having his own bathroom. Since Lord Robert Walters got there first, he had the first pick of bedroom, which had an adjacent bathroom. None of the other bedrooms had their own bathroom, which Prince Salauddin Babi finds out, and he claims a bathroom on another floor of the house, next to Prince Francisco's room. Cisco points this out in the first episode that there may be some conflict over this 'claimed' bathroom which happens to be right next to his bedroom.

At the end of the second episode, titled: "The Princely Paupers," Prince Salauddin Babi finally meets a woman at a barbecue they throw at their house, and she is also intrigued by Prince Francisco. This causes some conflict as they are both interested in dating her. In episode 3 titled: "The Glass Slipper," these two princes both attempt to woo her interest over the other prince.

If you live in the U.S., new episodes of Secret Princes comes on Friday night at 8 p.m. Central (9 p.m. Eastern) time on TLC.

If you are unable to watch it live, go ahead and DVR this show, because it is very entertaining.

Opie Dies on FX Show Sons of Anarchy, Johnnie Lewis Found Dead in Real Life

Season 5 of Sons of Anarchy on the FX channel has already started with a bang. Spoilers coming.

Harry "Opie" Winston, played by Ryan Hurst has been killed off.

For those not familiar with the show, Sons of Anarchy is a drama with dark humor, that follows a motorcycle club through their up's and down's of the unorthodox lifestyle. The related acronym SAMCRO stands for "Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original Charter"

Opie was a major character in the show, and his death may have come as a shock to many of the show's followers.

In the episode titled, "Laying Pipe," the drug kingpin Damon Pope wants have of the Sons of Anarchy's monthly earnings. In exchange Damon Pope goes easy on the Sons, but only after of the brothers in prison dies. The choices are between Jax, Tig, Opie, and Chibs.

In an effort to save the Sons motorcycle club, Jax is ready to step forward as the leader of the gang, but Opie gets in the way of his noble effort, and winds up dying at the hands of a prison gang.

Many fans may have not seen in coming for Opie on the show, as his wife had already died at the end of Season 1 of the show.

Some have said that Opie died honorably (mentioned in the fan reviews on the Fall 2012 blog). While other fans are extremely upset about Opie's death on the show.

Either way, Opie's death was symbolic that he died for something much bigger than his life alone. He died for the Sons of Anarchy motorcycle gang.

And in recent news, Johnnie Lewis - a Sons of Anarchy actor - died after jumping from the roof of a California home. Police suspect he was involved with beating his landlady to death, then jumping to his own death. Johnnie played Kip "Half Sack" Epps on the show in 26 episodes from 2008-2009. His body was found on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2012.
