New Marvel TV Show Agent Carter Premieres on ABC

Marvel's Agent Carter on ABC
Marvel's TV Show Agent Carter on ABC

The Marvel TV show, Agent Carter, is coming to ABC on Tuesday January 6, 2015 at 8 p.m. Eastern.  ABC calls her a "One Woman Army," in the previews for the TV show.  Agent Peggy Carter is played by Hayley Atwell.

The Marvel TV show on ABC, Agent Carter, is based on the character Peggy Carter first featured in the 2011 movie, Captain America: The First Avenger.

Agent Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger

In this movie, Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) played a strong woman, desensitized to the abundant supply of male ego, and seemed to have a tough outer shell in the first Captain America movie.  Towards the end of the movie, it was revealed that Steve Rogers (Captain America) had feelings for her, and she also liked him.  This is made evident when she kisses him as he is jumping from the car from the runway onto Red Skull's plane.  She also saw that Steve Rogers had a picture of her out as he was trying to pilot the aircraft before it crashed into the Arctic.

What is the ABC TV show Agent Carter about?

The ABC TV show Agent Carter is based in 1946, and U.S. troops are returning home from the war.  Agent Carter works for the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR).  Agent Carter is given secret missions by Howard Stark, while maintaining a cover of typical administrative work at a phone company.

In the previews, her friend says, "You work at the phone company...it ain't life and death." Agent Peggy Carter walks out of the room and says: "You have no idea."

Episode 1 and Episode 2 of Agent Carter on ABC

In the first episode of Agent Carter on ABC, Peggy is contacted by Howard Stark (played by Dominic Cooper), and he needs Peggy to help clear his name.  He gives her his butler, Edwin Jarvis, at her disposal.  Howard Stark takes off in a motorboat, on the run, because he has been framed for unleashing a deadly weapon.

In episode two of Agent Carter, this deadly weapon that Howard Stark was accused of unleashing, has fallen into enemy hands, and Agent Carter must recover it to save the day.

Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D. TV Show Anticipating Fall 2013 Debut

Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson

Is Joss Whedon creating a new TV Series for Fall 2013?

Why, yes he is, I am so glad you asked.

Joss Whedon is attempting to get his pilot for a TV series picked up on ABC.

What is it called?

The show is based on S.H.I.E.L.D. agents that work alongside the superheroes in the Marvel Universe, most notably the Avengers.

What does S.H.I.E.L.D. stand for?

Pre-1991 the acronym S.H.I.E.L.D. stood for: Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division

Post-1991, the acronym S.H.I.E.L.D. stands for: Strategic Homeland Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate.

Will Marvel comic book characters make any appearances in the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series?

Unknown, but Clark Gregg from the Avengers and Iron Man 2 will reprise his role as Agent Coulson.

Deadline.com reported in August 2012 that S.H.I.E.L.D. got the green light:

"S.H.I.E.L.D. will be written by Whedon and frequent collaborators, his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. Joss Whedon also is set to direct the pilot, schedule permitting. Production on the pilot, which marks the first live-action Marvel TV project to get a green light, will start immediately. Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Tancharoen executive produce with Jeffrey Bell and Marvel TV's Jeph Loeb."

ABC President Paul Lee said this about S.H.I.E.L.D. in an IGN interview:
"There is no question that it is part of the Marvel Universe. In fact, the story takes place after the battle for New York. This is S.H.I.E.L.D. They're following their own particular stories. There are characters in it, Coulson, who clearly comes from the Avengers. So it's part of the world, but we're going to be very, very careful that we don't tread on the toes of the features and build a whole new world. And that's what Joss Whedon does better than anybody else. He's built a world for us."

Fans should be very excited about this new Joss Whedon TV series.

NBA's Jeremy Lin, Can You Get Knicks Another Win?

Below is an excerpt from my article, New York Knicks Star, Jeremy Lin: The Hard-working Hero from Harvard on Yahoo! Voices:

Jeremy Lin on NBA's New York Knicks

Jeremy Lin is the latest among NBA stars to rise from humble basketball roots, and funnel momentum to the New York Knicks basketball team. Humble referring to graduating from Harvard University, after playing without a scholarship, and then entering into the 2010 NBA draft, undrafted. According to People Magazine, Jeremy Lin is the first NBA player of Chinese or Taiwanese descent in the NBA, and as of late, he has been receiving a lot of attention.

Jeremy Lin's basketball career to date has been about a hard work ethic, and not giving up, despite being passed up and passed around without metaphorically being passed to.

But that hasn't stopped Jeremy Lin.

Read the rest of this article, here.

Excerpt from my article, Knicks & Lin Knock Off Sacramento in Seven Game Winning Streak on Yahoo! Voices.

Jeremy Lin wearing #17 on the New York Knicks
Jeremy Lin is the most trend-worthy news of the month.

Even more so after winning seven games straight since bringing Lin on board. The Knicks beat the Sacramento Kings (Wednesday, February 15th 2012), 100-85.

Unfortunately, ABC and ESPN lock in their televised NBA games at the beginning of the season, because the world cannot get enough of Jeremy Lin: an unprecedented basketball phenomenon. Most of the regular season Knicks games are viewable court-side, or on the MSG network. The Knicks 2011-12 basketball schedule is viewable here.

Jeremy Lin has already been dubbed the Tim Tebow of the NBA, acknowledging that he is also a Christian, with the underlying comparison that Tebow also brought extra momentum to his team - the Denver Broncos - as the man responsible for passing the ball.

Not only has Lin given New Yorkers a reason to come to Madison Square Gardens, but he has reinvigorated his basketball team, and given them a reason to believe. Not to mention that the resale of NBA tickets to Knicks games are up 60% and rising with every win.

Will Jonah Hill Get Oscar for Moneyball?

Moneyball movie poster
Jonah Hill, known most for his comedic roles in movies, proved to the world that he could be serious in his role as Peter Brand, a statistics guy from Yale, in Moneyball.

In this movie, he played a supporting role to Brad Pitt, playing Billy Beane, the Oakland A's general manager.
Jonah Hill shows off watch given to him by Brad Pitt

In an ABC interview, Jonah revealed that Brad Pitt gave him a watch while filming the movie, with the inscription inside reading: Moneyballs. This turned out to be the inside joke between him and Brad Pitt.

Weight Loss or Weight Gain?
Loss: Jonah Hill lost almost 40 lbs. after doing the movie, Moneyball, attributing his weight loss to maturity. But he shares that he doesn't like to give up beer.

Apparently his acting friends Seth Rogen and Jason Segel also have lost weight and may have been an extra incentive behind Jonah Hill's weight loss. Jonah Hill stars in The End of the World (2013) with Seth Rogen and Jason Segel. In The End of the World, celebrity comedians are at a James Franco party playing themselves. How original.

Gain: But after doing 21 Jump Street, Jonah Hill put the weight back on. This May 2012 article from DailyMail.co.uk shows a picture of Jonah Hill at his former weight.

Jonah Hill revealed that the defining moment for him in the movie was when he had to fire a player. He shared that this was the moment when he "grew up" onscreen.

For more on Jonah Hill's interview, watch it here.

According to his Wikipedia entry (here), Jonah Hill directed his first music video for singer Sara Bareilles's song, "Gonna Get Over You," and will be seen soon in the movie, 21 Jump Street.

Find out if Jonah Hill wins an Oscar on February 26, 2012 airing on ABC.

Update (02/27/2012): Moneyball did not win any Oscars. Sorry Jonah Hill.
