Is Bruce Willis 'Greedy and Lazy' Like Sylvestor Stallone Says?

Tweet about Bruce Willis by Sylvestor Stallone
Sylvestor Stallone Tweets about Bruce Willis on Twitter

Sylvestor Stallone says this about Bruce Willis on Twitter on August 6, 2013: "GREEDY AND LAZY........A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE"

Sylvestor Stallone is busy working on Expendables 3 and is a little upset that Bruce Willis did not want to be a part of the third film. Well, to be technical, Bruce Willis would have happily came back for Expendables 3, filming for only 4 days and asking for $4 million in return. Too much for Sly's pockets?

Of course, when you are as rich as Bruce Willis, he probably isn't worrying about his career failing. Heck, he might even want to retire soon.

Bruce Willis is Tired of Action Movies

According to the News outlet, The Telegraph, Bruce Willis is bored of the action movies with lots of explosions.

His exact words: "Explosions are of the most boring parts of my job. When you have seen a few fireballs, it's not exciting anymore. I know part of my audience enjoys the explosions, but to be honest, I'm a bit bored of it now. I am very clear with who I am. I work in all sorts of films, but the action movies are the ones that generate the most revenue. I like to earn lots of money from those, but I do all types: small productions, megaprojects, medium-sized, even science fiction."

Many fans are starting to notice Bruce Willis' lackluster interviews in 2013. He appeared to not be focused when doing the interview with BBC The One's Matt Baker and Alex Jones in February 2013. Bruce Willis blames the bad interview on jet lag. Bruce Willis told UK radio personality Jamie Edwards that his favorite place to film was "Istanbul" despite the fact that RED 2 was not filmed in Istanbul.

Is Bruce Willis Really Greedy?

I am guessing that Bruce Willis asked for more money to star in Expendables 3 for an even lesser role, to which Sylvestor Stallone erupted with the greedy and lazy line on Twitter.

Is Sylvestor Stallone really the right person to be calling Bruce Willis greedy?

Warner Bros. is rumored to have offered Christian Bales $50 Million for only 20 minutes as Batman in the upcoming Justice League film. Read about that in this blog post. Now that's a paycheck!

Screen New Movies in Your Home with PRIMA Cinema

PRIMA Cinema Player

PRIMA Cinema Hard Drive

The PRIMA Cinema is a personal theater system that allows someone to download movies via broadband at the same time that they hit theaters. This system allows you to watch those movies from the comfort of your own home. A working internet connection is required at the start of a film, but internet connections will not disrupt the playback of a film.

The only catch is that each new release costs $500.00 per movie. This is a small price to pay to avoid theaters and people altogether. This is the perfect system for hermits and vampires. You never have to interact with people again! Although, at $500.00 per movie, I can picture myself inviting 50 people over and charging $10 a head. Or how about 25 friends at $20 a piece? You may want to read the fine print first. Screening a PRIMA Cinema movie to neighbors and friends may be illegal.

PRIMA Cinema is a game-changer. Before, only a few insiders of the entertainment industry were allowed to screen theatrically-released films in their own home. Prima Cinema now allows anyone (with the cash) to do just that. But the Frequently Asked Questions section says that “Members can enjoy films as long as they are available in the public Box Office.”

Does this mean that once a movie leaves theaters that it is no longer viewable on your PRIMA Cinema?
The Prima Cinema has two hardware pieces: the rack-mountable PRIMA Cinema Player and the PRIMA Biometric Reader. After all, we can’t let just anyone download your movies. These movies are secure and only available to you -- the PRIMA Cinema owner.

PRIMA Cinema uses proprietary technology, which comes with 3D support and claims to have better picture clarity and deeper color tones than your standard Blu-ray players. They are also compatible with Dolby TrueHD audio format.

The PRIMA Cinema sounds awesome, but it seems that only the rich will be able to enjoy this product.

Finally, someone thought of a way to legally download movies.

The official website can be viewed here.

2012 is the Year of Comic Book Movie Reboots

2012 is a year full of reboots.

Sorry. I am not referring to the awesome animated CGI-animated TV series, ReBoot, that aired from (1994 - 2002). If you are not familiar with the series, it is available on Netflix. Check it out.

I am talking about the next best thing. Comic book movies.

First, The Amazing Spiderman comes to theaters July 3.Then, The Dark Knight Rises makes its way to theaters on July 20. Finally, Dredd, a reboot of Judge Dredd (1995), hits theaters on Sept. 21.

Have you ever looked forward to a reboot?

What a valid question! To which I have you an answer.

But first let’s examine what reboots rarely do. From what we’ve seen, reboots often offer a new vision for a franchise, and rightfully so. After all, why would a reboot take the same path, and the same vein for the story? Well, for one thing, continuity is uber important for a franchise - especially a superhero franchise - unless the first movie(s) were flops.

Hulk (2003) and; The Incredible Hulk (2008) movies were a prime examples of this. While I didn’t think either movies were “flops” per say, they didn’t meet or exceed box office expectations.

But here’s why reboots are sometimes necessary. When one director/writer’s vision falls short, or gets something wrong, the only way to correct the flaw, is to reboot the franchise. In the comic book world, such a correction can be easily fixed with a retcon. A retcon is when a comic book writer must make a change to the history of a superhero, so that there isn’t an inconsistency in the hero’s past, based on a previous comic book.

Crave Online wrote about the five most shocking retcons in comic book history here.

But when a comic book movie franchise decides to change something in the story, that is inconsistent with the comic books, that essentially is where everything goes wrong. As one of my dear friends put it: Why change the story on superheroes when you have 50 years of storylines to build from?

Here are a few reasons why Hollywood makes changes:

  1. More appealing to worldwide markets (make up 70% of movie revenue)
  2. Old-fashioned ideas (that apparently don’t work in a Progressive America)
  3. The big wigs want a formula (A + B + C = blockbuster movie)
As a person that is not fond of reboots, I am actually looking forward to a reboot of Batman.

Let me explain why:
As a person that grew up watching Batman: The Animated Series as well as a comic book fan, I personally don’t find Christian Bale to capture the essence of Batman. He doesn’t do it for me. I am a true Batman fan. Bruce Wayne looks nothing like Christian Bale, and certainly does not act like Christian Bale. Of course, that is my own opinion.

That being said, I am ready for the next Batman reboot.

Don’t worry, folks, it won’t be that far away.

If you are a fan of the Batman Trilogy, the Batman Begins Tumbler can be found here. It is a collection of moving .gif pictures from the Batman Trilogy with Christian Bale. Quite interesting for the Batman fan.

Marvel is Missing Two Avengers in First Avengers Movie

Avengers Movie Poster
With the Avengers movie coming out May 4, those who are familiar with the comics are wondering where the other two Avengers are, since they are not in this movie.

The two Avengers missing are: Ant-Man & The Wasp. Of course, they were included on the original Avengers team, and are seen in many Avengers cartoon movies on DVD.

Perhaps it is because Henry Pym, who is Ant-Man, is constantly beating his wife, Janet (The Wasp), in the comics. No, that would be too noble of Hollywood, that can't be it.

It is actually because there is another Marvel movie coming, debuting the Ant-Man. The script for Ant-Man has been in the works, and has been in a holding pattern since Feb. 2007. See the Wikipedia entry here.

And let's not get the original Avengers confused with the New Avengers, which include Wolverine, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman and a few other lesser known superheroes.

Henry Pym has also played the superhero Giant Man, and maybe there just isn't enough room on the silver screen for the rest of the superhero egos to fit in one film.

I just know one thing from Marvel going to the big screen: I am tired of Hollywood messing up comic book movies.

Dr. Henry Pym will not be in Avengers 2, but will have his own standalone movie after Avengers 2.

Denzel Washington's "Safe House" Isn't Quite "Fallen" But Close

The latest Hollywood trend continues in the movie, Safe House (2012), starring Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington.

Safe House movie poster
What is the latest Hollywood trend, you ask?

It's quite simple really. Write a script for a standalone movie, and kill all of the characters in the movie, except the main character.

The last sentence above is a spoiler if you were planning on watching the movie.

Or, if you really want to throw the audience a curveball, even kill off the main character, as seen in the other Denzel Washington movie, Fallen (1998).

Oops. That was another spoiler, if you haven't seen that one, either.

Denzel Washington playing Det. John Hobbes in Fallen (1998)

In Safe House, Denzel fights corrupt government officials, while in Fallen, Denzel fights people corrupted by the demon, Azazel.

So let's recap: If Hollywood plans on making a movie franchise, don't kill the main characters, so there can be lots of sequels, but if it is a throwaway movie (a standalone), kill off all of the characters except numero uno, so the viewers can have a feel good moment at the end.

Is anyone else out there getting tired of the stale formulas and ready for unpredictable movies that are actually good, or is it just me?

Resident Evil 5: Retribution For What?

Resident Evil: Retribution in 3D

The Resident Evil Franchise, starring Milla Jovovich, is coming back with a fifth movie.

Yes. I said fifth.

They want retribution this time. For what, I do not know.
Alice in Resident Evil 5, played by Milla Jovovich
If you have read previous blog posts of mine - such as this one - the problem with Hollywood is that they pump out sequels under the premise that it has to be bigger and better. Please do not make another Indiana Jones movie. The first three were great. The last one - not so great.

But there is one problem - rather than continuing to produce high-quality and consistent movies that build onto a franchise, Hollywood opts to use the bigger explosions, unrealistic over-the-top CGI, and the 3D schtick to crank out another movie, rather than to expand the content of the franchise portfolio by producing a great script.

Part of the problem is that established brands with previous successes in the U.S. and worldwide already have brand recognition. That means they already have a "foot in the door" when it comes to adding on a sequel to the franchise.

Keep in mind that Hollywood executives aim to make 60-70% of their profits through worldwide distribution. That means that 30-40% is made here in the U.S., but the worldwide markets have a big influence on what movies get made.

Alice running from blood-thirsty zombie-like humans created by the Umbrella Corp.'s T-Virus
So until Hollywood changes its practices, we will continue to see stale sequels in franchises that have been squeezed dry of their creative juices.

That includes hordes of zombies, and every other beast fathomable, since the Resident Evil movies do not stick to one kind of evil. They do it all.

I would rather see them do one thing and do it well, rather than to do it all and be and a master of nothing.

Good movies are good movies. Plain and simple. But when is the last time you saw a sequel win an award for acting?
If you want to see the trailer for yourself, it can be viewed here on Yahoo! Movies.

...and by the way, if you are a fan of the video games, be sure to pick up Resident Evil: Revelations for the Nintendo 3DS, but don't look at the spine of the game, because it is misspelled.
