Uber Deducted $71 From a Cincinnati Uber Eats Driver Due to a 'Technical Glitch' & He Would Like More Transparency

On Friday, 31 March 2023, an Uber Eats driver worked in Cincinnati during thunderstorms and earned an average of $12 per delivery from a total of $180. He paid some bills that night from the needed income. Uber Eats then informed him that there was a "technical glitch" that night and that they would deduct about $71 from his account due to their error. He would like more transparency with their payment system.

Cincinnati Uber Eats Delivery Driver Hit with a 'Glitch Notice'

Local 12 News reported that David Rohdenburg received $180 in earnings (for 15 deliveries) into his account for his deliveries on Friday, 31 March 2023. It averaged $12 per delivery. However, David did not know Uber Eats would later take $71 back from him, reducing his earnings to about $7 per delivery.

He supports a wife and three children and has bills to pay. In fact, he paid some of those bills on Friday night while doing deliveries, as he was earning money from Uber Eats. After all, he counted on the money to be his.

Unfortunately for him, Uber Eats can withdraw money back from his account if they believe they made an error and did just that.

David Receives a 'Notice of Adjustment' from Uber Eats

Uber Eats sent David a notice that read:

"An incorrect payment was made to your account. Due to a technical issue, you received duplicate earnings for certain trips between 03/31-04/02. To correct this erroneous overpayment, we will adjust (-)$71.09 paid or payable to you for the affected trip(s). Your tips are not affected. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused."

After the notice to David, an Uber spokesperson also gave a statement to Local 12 News.

It reads:

"For several hours on March 31st, Uber experienced a technical issue that resulted in couriers being paid double the fare shown for each delivery trip. In all cases, couriers were paid the full amount they were shown before accepting a trip. We apologize for the error and are working to prevent this from happening again." -Uber Spokesperson (Source: Local 12 News)

This would be an inconvenience to most people trying to earn a living as an Uber driver.

David told Local 12 News:

"I don't think they realize how this affects people," Rohdenburg said. "Many people, like my wife and I, have three kids, you know, we have bills, and because we get that money immediately it goes to bills." -David Rohdenburg, Uber Eats driver (Source: Local 12 News)

The biggest issue is that David would like Uber Eats to itemize the earnings offered to a driver for each delivery, so drivers could recognize if they are being paid anything other than the normal rate.

To make matters worse, Uber Eats removed another $13 from David's account and had not given him an explanation for this new account adjustment at the publication date.

Will this continue to happen?

Final Thoughts

Among the food delivery companies, Uber Eats averages $20 an hour, Door Dash averages between $18 to $24 an hour, and Grubhub averages $14 an hour.

The game Fallout 76, by Bethesda Studios has received many criticisms for glitches and bugs. I have the game on PS4 and have encountered some of these gameplay issues, which are detailed below.

3 Gameplay Issues that Make Fallout 76 Less Fun

1. Being Overencumbered: The biggest issue that I have personally dealt with playing Fallout 76 on PS4 is the problem of being 'Overencunbered' - which means in the game that you have collected too many items over your maximum capacity, and it negatively affects your character in the game. It means your character can run, and it drains Action Points (AP) just to walk anywhere. There are three possible solutions to this that is really burdensome to do if you still a low level.

First solution: Drop a bunch of your junk on the ground. This is not a great solution because the whole point of this game is to run around West Virginia and loot and collect junk.

Second solution: Spend time finding armor with pockets for 5 capacity increases. This is challenging to do, however if you make any high level friends, you can increase your carry capacity by +5 for every pocketed armor, or get yourself a power armor. The lowest level power armor (including the armor) is for a level 15. Otherwise, you can start wearing a power chassis immediately. The only problem with wearing a power armor is that you only start with one power core. You would have to continue to collect power cores to use it regularly. As a low level, this is not a viable solution.

Third solution: Get yourself a pocketed armor and take advantage of a glitch that allows you to push the maximum carry capacity into the negative by pressing X repeatedly. This works sometimes, but other times it takes a LONG time to work.

Next, being overencumbered makes way for a glitch called the Respawn Glitch. I have personally dealt with this glitch on numerous occasions. It is quite annoying. If you die while overencumbered, it will often only allow you to respawn at Vault 76. During another gameplay, it wouldn't even give me a respawn point at all, and I had to quit the game and log back in many times before it would respawn me in the game. This was extremely annoying.

2. Cap Limit at Robot Vendors: The cap limit at robot vendors is quite annoying. It is generally starts at 200 caps or less at the start and every time you sell junk back to the vendor, the caps decreases until it hits zero. At that point, you cannot sell anything back to the robot vendors. This goes across all of the factions. Your next NPC to sell to is the wandering vendor named Grahm with his bull.

Solution: Have one giant marketplace that all players on the server can place items for sale. It is way to cumbersome to try and trade or buy and sell with individuals.

3. Lag Experienced Trading with Vendors: Regardless of the Vendor, there is often a considerable amount of lag experienced when buying and selling with NPC vendors.

Solution: Turn all animation and NPC dialogue off during vendor transactions to reduce lag in game.

Fallout 76 Endless Loading Glitch

As I tried to enter the Power Station, I clicked to enter through the door and it went into an endless loading screen. It never loaded and I had to turn my PS4 off in order to end the loading sequence.

Fallout 76 Level Up Glitch

There is another Fallout 76 glitch in the game that allows a player to level up with the right perk card equipped, if the player stands in fire and repeatedly taps a button on the controller. I have seen it done, but have not done it personally.

Fallout 76 Miner Miracles Glitch

I went down south on the map to the Miner HQ and received a message: "WARNING: Miner Miracles cannot be completed until you've reached Level 25." I now receive this warning message every time I enter the game. This is an obvious glitch.

If you are experiencing Google Chrome crashes, you are not alone. The truth is out there.

The three most common fixes for when Google Chrome crashes is:

1. Restart Google Chrome
2. Restart your device
3. Close the other tabs
4. Disable problematic plugins (see screenshot on right)
5. If all else fails, reset the settings (see screenshot below)

Apple iOS Safari browser Glitch Crash Boom!

On January 27, 2016 Safari browser, by Apple, kept crashing. It was even unavailable for some worldwide users on Wednesday. Everyone was wondering: "Why?"

No. Apple has declined to comment as to the details of why their beloved browser has crashed. They will not even provide any hints as to why the Safari browser has failed millions of people worldwide.

Apple calls Safari problems a minor Glitch

This "glitch" - as Apple called it, lasted approximately 7 hours. Apple claimed that the problem was fixed about 10:45 p.m. Eastern standard time, but they did not say why the Safari glitch caused such an issue for users worldwide.

People in Apple's support forums believe that the Safari glitch was caused by the Safari's search suggestions box. They surmised that typing anything into the box caused the app to crash on the Apple iPhone. They temporary disabled this feature in the settings, but had to shut down the servers to do so.

Some people wonder if this Safari glitch had anything to do with the latest upgrade of the iOS system that took place earlier in the week.

How to Solve your Browser Problems

There is one way to solve your Google Chrome and Apple Safari problems: Don't use either.

There are other browsers that you can use, instead of Google Chrome and Apple Safari.

You could use Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox, as an alternative. Although one should point out that Mozilla Firefox uses more of your computer's resources to run than most other browsers. That doesn't mean that it isn't good, it just means, be mindful of your CPU working overtime to run your online browser.

In 2010, Stanford analysts found that private perusing modes in Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer were powerless against neighborhood aggressors through various hacker attackers.

When you use inPrivate browsing, Internet Edge browser still creates data on the hard drive disk connected to your browsing activities. The cached files are still stored in the Temporary Internet files sub-directories.

The only thing it really does as advertised, is conceal a user's browser history from the user interface, and from the common tools.

H&R Block Online Software Dependent Glitch for Alabama Income Tax Filers

Alabama Income Tax Filers: If you use H&R Block online software to file your taxes, be aware - there is a glitch in the software when it carries your federal information over to the state tab. Your state tax return will not be accurate if this glitch is present.

I Found a 'Dependent Glitch' in the H&R Block Online Tax Software

I noticed that the information for my dependent was missing after I printed my Alabama tax return. For some reason it did not import the dependent data from the Federal tab to the state tab. I tried everything possible to add this data, but there was no ability to add a dependent on the state tab (see screenshot below).

After I Discovered the Glitch, I Called H&R Block Customer Support

I called H&R Block customer support. The lady on the phone couldn't figure it out either. She then had me go to the live chat support from the website. He couldn't figure it out, either. Then this guy transferred me over to technical support. He spent at least an hour researching why my dependent information did not carry over to the state return. He came up with a guess why the glitch happened, but it his guess not correct. He thought it didn't carry over because of Alabama's Tax law, but that was not the case.

In the time it took for him to research the problem, I manually did my Alabama tax return using the AL40 with calculations, available on the state website.

Resolution to H&R Block Online Tax Software 'Dependent Glitch'

What I ended up doing was getting a refund of ($36.99) for my AL state portion of the H&R Block online software, and I manually did my AL state return. The technical support guy said what you seem to hear a lot when there is a problem: "I've never seen that glitch happen before. So I am going to give you a refund on your state return."

It did happen, and is a good reason why you should always review your tax information before sending it in, even if you feel confident in the tax software. Tax software can have glitches in it.

I am glad that H&R Block was willing to give me a refund, after all, I am not going to pay for them to give me the wrong data on my individual income tax return.

This was a valuable lesson for me in using tax software, and how I am going to be extra careful in examining my returns in the future when filing my taxes.
