Wisconsin City is Suing Burger King for $500K Over an Abandoned Building That 'Could Attract Crime'

The city of West Allis is suing Burger King because Burger King has not fixed their former building which is located at 76th Street and Greenfield Avenue. This building has been abandoned since 2018. The city is calling the building a public nuisance and a fire hazard, that could attract vandalism and crime.

The City of West Allis: 'Fix, Demolish, or Redevelop' Abandoned Building

The city of West Allis says that it has given Burger King multiple notices and opportunities to fix the abandoned building located at 76th Street and Greenfield Avenue, but the company has not complied. Now they are suing Burger King for $500,000 in damages and fines.

The city says that it wants to see the property redeveloped or demolished, and that it is willing to work with Burger King to find a solution. The city also says that it is enforcing its blight ordinance, which allows it to sue property owners who neglect their buildings.

The city of West Allis does not want the abandoned building to attract vandalism and crime.

Burger King Responds to the 'Unfair and Excessive' Lawsuit

Burger King responded that it has been trying to sell the property since 2019, but has not found a buyer. The company also says that it has been paying the property taxes and maintaining the security system. Burger King argues that the city’s lawsuit is unfair and excessive.

Twins from Italy, known as Ciuffi Rossi, are growing quite popular on YouTube, getting close to 500,000 or more views on many YouTube covers of popular contemporary pop songs. Their real names are Marco and Alessio Bianchi, and they have already made an official video (Biancastella) with the Time Warner Italy music label.

• The song, "Cheerleader" by OMI has over 566,000 views.
• The song, "Drag Me Down" by One Direction has over 561,000 views.

Ciuffi Rossi has been picked up by Warner Music Italy, and posted an official video, titled "Biancastella". Even though the video is in the language, Italian, I'd say it is a very catchy song. It has over 776,000 views on YouTube. The Ciuffi Rossi YouTube channel has over 285,000 subscribers, which is pretty impressive.

Hotline Bling by Drake on YouTube has brought many reactions from fans, but none as "interesting" as a dissertation on relations between the U.S. and Russia by user zanderzeth. This user has quite a creative imagination and must give him props for really thinking this through. Most people would not think that Hotline Bling is a deep song, but zanderzeth has proved these people to be wrong.

Here is what Drake's song Hotline Bling really means... Tensions between the United States (and its allies) and Russia have been steadily rising over the past several years. Although once close allies with the west, Russia's recent actions of strained the relationship between it and much of the western world. In "Hotline Bling", Drake provides an elegant metaphorical recap of the circumstances that have led to the current relationship between the two powers, from the days of their initial alliance through the tensions of the Cold War into the present-day strained but civil relationship: You used to call me on my cell phone Late night when you need my love Call me on my cell phone Late night when you need my love And I know when that hotline bling That can only mean one thing I know when that hotline bling That can only mean one thing In this opening, Drake harkens back to the Second World War, the beginning of the relationship between the USA and the USSR. The "late night when you need my love" refers to the darkness of the later years of WWII, when Nazi Germany's expansion and atrocities reached their most severe states. The 'love' needed here was the mutual support and cooperation between the USSR and USA in order to defend themselves and end the threat of Nazi expansion. The phrase " I know when that hotline bling that can only mean one thing" is first introduced here. This same phrase will be used throughout the song, changing in meaning and context at each new use to reflect the gradual changes in attitudes of the two superpowers towards one another. The precise meanings are deliberately unexplained by Drake; we are left to interpret meaning of the phrase as it changes from chorus to chorus. This mirrors the uncertainty that both the USA and USSR would experience when attempting to understand the intentions of the other country. In this first chorus, the phrase is used to refer to the anticipated call that each leader would receive to notify them of the surrender of Nazi forces. Beginning of Drake Hotline Bling is the Cold War between United States and Russia

This verse discusses the beginnings of the tensions between the two countries that would come to be known as the Cold War. The "city" being left is a metaphor for the dissolution of the alliance between the USA and USSR after the end of WWII. The "reputation for yourself" that Drake speaks of is the combination of profound social and political differences found between the two countries, one a capitalist democracy and the other a single-party Marxist-Lenninist state. Drake bluntly discusses the "stress" that this separation causes, especially when the USSR begins "Hangin' with some girls I've never seen before "; a thinly-veiled reference to the signing of the Warsaw Pact between the USSR and other communist states of eastern Europe. You used to call me on my cell phone Late night when you need my love Call me on my cell phone Late night when you need my love And I know when that hotline bling That can only mean one thing I know when that hotline bling That can only mean one thing In this first repetition of the chorus, tensions between the two powers had reached one of their highest points, with the Cuban Missile Crisis. Drake's use of the "hotline bling" phrase refers to the potential command of either of the two countries to launch nuclear missiles. Such a blinging of the hotline could only "mean one thing": the mutually-assured destruction of a full-scale nuclear war. Ever since I left the city, you, you, you You and me we just don't get along You make me feel like I did you wrong Going places where you don't belong Ever since I left the city, you, you got exactly what you asked for Running out of pages in your passport Hanging with some girls I've never seen before Here, Drake imples that the two nations are now very openly engaged in non-violent conflict, that they "just don't get along". In the later years of the Cold War, the USA and Soviet Union were involved in several proxy wars; wars in which the two sides were not in direct conflict, but rather supported opposing sides in wars between other nations. "Going places where you don't belong" is Drake's allusion to the delivery of soldiers, supplies and other support to the parties engaged in these conflicts, particularly the Vietnam War. This was followed by a period of many changing alliances for both counties, as new accords were reached and diplomats from both countries began to visit many nations in earnest, hoping to secure further alliances and limit any advantage that either side could gain. This period is represent in Drake's words as "Running out of pages in your passport . Hanging with some girls I've never seen before" You used to call me on my cell phone Late night when you need my love Call me on my cell phone Late night when you need my love And I know when that hotline bling That can only mean one thing I know when that hotline bling That can only mean one thing This chorus marks a fundamental change in the Cold War, as tensions began to ease and both parties sought to increase global stability. Under the new leadership of Mikhail Gorbachev, the Soviet Union implemented many sweeping reforms and entered talks with the United States in order to decrease tensions. Here, the one thing that the "hotline bling" can mean is yet another call between one world leader to another, slowly improving international relations. Eventually, due to the weakening bonds between the countries comprising the Soviet Union, the hotline would bling a final time to inform President George H.W. Bush of the dissolution of the Soviet Union, ending the Cold War. These days, all I do is Wonder if you bendin' over backwards for someone else Wonder if you're rollin' up a backwoods for someone else Doing things I taught you, gettin' nasty for someone else You don't need no one else You don't need nobody else, no Why you never alone Why you always touching road Used to always stay at home, be a good girl You was in a zone, yeah You should just be yourself Right now, you're someone else In the final verse, seemingly directed at Russia (formerly the largest and most influential country in the Soviet Union) Drake reflects upon the current rising tensions between the USA and Russia. Drake "Wonder[s] if you [Russia] bendin' over backwards for someone else", seemingly questioning whether or not Russia is currently forging any new alliances in secret. Drake assures Russia that "You don't need no one else. You don't need nobody else, no" indicating that he believes that Russia should seek to maintain its current diplomatic relations, rather than seek alliances with other countries or acquire new territory through the use of military force. Drake tells Russia that it "Used to always stay at home, be a good girl . You was in a zone, yeah. ". These beautiful lyrics represent the years between the end of the Cold War and Vladimir Putin's rise to power in which Russia enjoyed a relatively prosperous economy and stable diplomatic relations with the western world. Drake tells Russia "You should just be yourself", encouraging the Nation reestablish the national identity and policies of those years. You used to call me on my cell phone Late night when you need my love Call me on my cell phone Late night when you need my love And I know when that hotline bling That can only mean one thing I know when that hotline bling That can only mean one thing In a final repetition of the chorus, Drake expresses concern that the hotline will bling once again in response to any sudden military action taken by Russia that could once again plunge two of the most powerful nations into conflict. Ever since I left the city Drake concludes with a simple, yet poignant, lamentation of the loss of the original spirit of cooperation between the two powers. Drakes words evoke a deep and tragic yearning for the kindred relationship that may never be again.

The Problem with Internet Trolls on YouTube

What is Video Trolling on YouTube?

Trolling in the YouTube world is where someone creates a video and some part of the content is designed to get a reaction from viewers. This reaction has been termed "trolling". More likely than not, the reaction is expected to be negative among viewers, and might offend some people. In this context, the whole purpose for a YouTube video to engage in trolling is to create some type of controversy with the end result being more viewers to come across their YouTube video.

YouTubers are Guilty of Video Trolling

People that post videos regularly and get a lot of views are called "YouTubers". Among YouTubers, people that engage in trolling for video views are looked upon like they will sell out just to get some more views. However, many YouTubers will do whatever they need to do to get video views. Professional YouTubers advise newcomers to create high quality content for their YouTube Channel, and then trolling is not necessary.

TheFineBros show various YouTubers a video clip of Boxxy (at this URL), and they comment on her personality. In the Q&A section following the video, The Fine Bros. ask YouTubers if Boxxy was trolling, and they say "yes". The Fine Bros. explain to YouTubers that Boxxy is a made up character with the intent to get views by upsetting some viewers.

Some of the YouTubers believe that in 2009, that there wasn't as much content on YouTube, and that Boxxy was just trying to get some views by creating this video. Some people have even called Boxxy the "Queen of the Internet" even if she was creating a trolling type of YouTube video.

Trolling also Happens in Journalism

Ann Coulter called soccer a "liberal conspiracy" and a sign of the "moral decline of the U.S." on her website, while the World Cup was taking place in 2014. This is a prime example of when a person attempts to use extreme terms to make a point, and hopefully be so outrageous in her wording, that people get offended.

I know that some people were offended by her outrageous stance on soccer, but it is also pretty obvious that she is using extreme terms to make her point. In my opinion, this is just bad journalism. But that is probably why her soccer hating article is on her "column" which is on her personal website. I doubt any legitimate publication would publish an article like this.

Youtube currently does not own the syndication rights to Sherlock (BBC), but user Jojo fever on Youtube has uploaded episode 2 from Season 1 titled: "The Blind Banker." User Jojo fever appears to be a person from the country of India, and does not own the syndication rights to Sherlock. This user appears to be violating copyright laws. Episodes like this do not stay up on Youtube for very long. They are removed when the video is reported for violating copyright laws.

Hulu only has clips related to a cartoon Sherlock Holmes and clips related to the Sherlock (BBC) movie starring Robert Downey Jr.

Of the three, Netflix is your best bet for catching up on Seasons 1 and 2 of Sherlock (BBC). Of course, this requires a paid subscription to Netflix instant streaming.

Sherlock (BBC) is a modern-day version of Sherlock Holmes, based on the stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Benedict Cumberbatch plays Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman plays his sidekick, Dr. John Watson. Actor Andrew Scott plays Moriarty in the BBC series. I think Andrew Scott plays an excellent Moriarty. His character is very believable to be a sociopath.

The show was created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss as they were on their train commute to work on the show, Doctor Who. (Read my recent post on Doctor Who).

In the BBC television version, each Sherlock episodes run about 1 hr. 30 min. each in length, and airs on local PBS television stations in the U.S. as a part of Masterpiece Mystery!

Trivia fact:

Yes but not the seasons of it like a typical TV show. You can only check out Judge Judy: Justice Served on Netflix.

Is Judge Judy on Hulu Plus?

No.

If you are wondering why Judge Judy cannot be found on Hulu Plus, it is because Hulu Plus is not written into her multi-million dollar syndication deal.  A DVD "best of" compilation of unforgettable moments in her courtroom can be queued up in Netflix.  Here's your one good reason to go with Netflix over Hulu Plus. 

Is Judge Judy on Youtube?

Of course you can find clips of Judge Judy on Youtube, but don't count on finding full episodes on Youtube for long-term. These are users posting their favorite clips, but they do not own the syndication rights to the television show. Their clips eventually get flagged and removed for copyright infringement.

Streamageddon Purge?

Netflix has made restrictions to its public API as it is taking certain titles off of its streaming catalogue. Netflix has made it harder for websites like Instantwatcher.com to accurately update which television and movie titles are available to stream. This debacle has been called Streamageddon and "the great Netflix Instant vanishing of 2013." Deadline reports that 1,000 titles will be vanishing from Netflix in 2013.

Streamageddon solved? Netflix representative has said that members of the service will be able to find streaming content expiration dates on the movie or TV show web page.

Which is better: Hulu Plus or Netflix?

This post is not to convince you to pick one online-streaming content provider over another, because I like them both.  But there's another show - in which people are judged by their presentation - and then either given funding and a partnership with a billionaire, or the boot out the front door. This show may be more to your liking if you like seeing new ideas and businesses succeed or fail.  The show I am describing, is cleverly titled Shark Tank on ABC.

Now if you like watching an entrepreneur being thrown to the wolves, then this show is right up your alley.  But don't plan on watching it on Netflix, 'cause it ain't there.  You will have to go to Hulu Premium to watch Season 1 episodes, and you can watch up to 3 of the most recently aired episodes (as they air this year) on Hulu Free.  This is your one reason to go with Hulu over Netflix.

Some people just go to Youtube and watch clips of Judge Judy.

But, let me share with you the connection between these two shows.  One of the billionaire sharks on the show, Shark Tank, is Kevin O'Leary.  Another man by the same name of Kevin O'Leary - found here on Twitter - blogged about Judge Judy on his website.  His blog entry (from July 17th 2010) claims that Judge Judy has surpassed Oprah with 6.6 million viewers a day, and that her 15th year of syndication was for $45 million dollars a year.  On top of that, her work year is only 52 days long.  He also states that she is ranked on Forbes as the 72nd richest celebrity.

I personally rank these two shows as my favorite to watch, and therefore would have to subscribe to Hulu Premium and Netflix to watch my favorites shows.  No, I don't buy TV shows on DVD. Have you checked Youtube?

One last thing I must say about Judge Judy: she will not take any lip in her courtroom.  If you are lying through your teeth, she knows and will tell you in front of her audience.  If you get embarrassed easily, I don't recommend taking your small claims case to her show, especially if you have something to hide.

In March 2013, Judge Judy was in the news because Patric Jones was suing her over china she bought at a discount. Judge Judy bought the china for $50,000. Patric Jones claims that the china is worth $514,421.

Judge Judy said: "[She has] not seen any complaint by the former Mrs. Douthit, however, I don't owe this lady a cent. And if this 50-year old woman would spend her time more productively at trying to find a job, instead of abusing the judicial system with frivolous lawsuits, we would all be a lot better off."

Arrested Development Returns to Netflix

Arrested Development returns to Netflix on Sunday May 26, 2013. Netflix will have fifteen new episodes of Arrested Development Season 4 to stream at your own convenience.

Arrested Development is a show about a wealthy, dysfunctional family in Newport Beach, CA, but received low ratings, and FOX responded accordingly. Despite the low ratings, the show has a cult-like following of fans after only three seasons, receiving six Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe. Arrested Development first debuted on FOX in 2003, and was cancelled in 2006.

The cast of Arrested Development includes: Michael Cera, Will Arnett, Portia de Rossi and Jason Bateman.
