Elon Musk Company Neuralink Has 'Implanted a Chip in its First Human Brain'

The startup company Neuralink has "implanted a chip in a human brain for the first time" and Elon Musk tweeted about the milestone on X.com (formerly Twitter).

CNN reported that the company "had received approval to study the safety and functionality of its chip implant and surgical tools."

Neuralink received FDA clearance to begin human clinical trials in May 2023. They began recruiting patients with quadriplegia with cervical spinal cord injuries.

Elon Musk posted to X on Monday, January 29, 2024, that Neuralink successfully implanted a chip in a human brain for the first time on January 28, 2024.

He said:

Neuralink Monkeys with Chip Implants Died in 2022

In 2022, CNN reported that the monkey with the chip implant died while attempting to get it to play Pong, which faced scrutiny to which they "denied animal cruelty claims." 

Neuralink used macaque monkeys to develop their Bluetooth-enabled implantable chips. These chips were installed into the monkeys' brains. This was to test the feature for the person or monkey to communicate with computers using a small receiver.

Neuralink claimed the monkeys could play the computer game Pong, using just their minds. A video was released of a male macaque monkey moving a cursor on the screen with just its brain, as the video eludes (there is no joystick or controller present).

Kangana Ranaut Supports Elon Musk & Neuralink Human Brain Chip Implant

Hindustan Times reported on 30 January 2024 that Indian actress Kangana Ranaut supports Elon Musk's startup Neuralink Corp. after it implanted a chip into the first human brain.

Elon Musk further described what the chip would allow attached to a brain:

"Enables control of your phone or computer, and through them almost any device, just by thinking. Initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs. Imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal." -Elon Musk

A Woman Steals an Amish Horse and Buggy from Walmart in Sturgis & She is Found at a Nearby Motel

A woman steals an Amish horse and buggy parked at Walmart in Sturgis, Michigan, and later deserts it near her hotel. Did she steal the horse and buggy to get a free ride to the St. Joseph County jail?

A 31-year-old woman steals an Amish horse and buggy about 14 miles from Centreville, Michigan, which is where more than 10% of Michigan's Amish population lives.

The owner of the horse and buggy was shopping in Walmart. What's even stranger is that she made contact with police at Walmart earlier in the same day, but that reason was not disclosed.

Woman Steals Amish Horse and Buggy in Sturgis, Michigan

Business Insider reported that a 31-year-old woman stole an Amish horse and buggy from Walmart on Saturday. A truck driver in the Walmart parking lot saw the woman take the horse buggy and told the police what happened.

The thief abandoned the horse and buggy about two miles away near the hotel she was staying at. The horse was unharmed.

Sturgis Police did not publicly disclose her name.

The woman was charged with "larceny and larceny of livestock," and is held in the St. Joseph County Jail.

The Sturgis Department of Public Safety posted about the incident on Facebook.

I have always wanted to try the Grilled Pastrami Reuben, #20 on the hot subs menu, but I can't get myself to order anything other than the Chipotle Cheese Steak sub, because it is that good!

Verizon Wireless Will Be Paying US Customers in a Class Action Lawsuit for Those who Submit a Claim by April 15

Verizon Wireless has notified customers who are eligible for a class action lawsuit for those charged administrative fees between Jan. 1, 2016, and Nov. 8, 2023. Find out if you are eligible to receive money from Verizon Wireless.

Who is Eligible for a Verizon Wireless Payment?

If you were a Verizon Wireless customer between Jan. 1, 2016, and Nov. 8, 2023, and had a postpaid wireless phone or data plan in the US, there is a good chance that you are eligible to join a class action lawsuit.

Verizon customers signed up for services paid on a monthly billing cycle who were charged administrative fees between Jan. 1, 2016, and Nov. 8, 2023, are the people who were affected.

Verizon has been contacting eligible members by email or regular mail — which was sent out Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

The email or letter contains a notice ID and confirmation code, which is used to submit a claim by registering on the settlement website. The deadline to submit a claim and join this class action lawsuit is April 15, 2024.

How Much Should Each Customer Expect to Receive?

WSB-TV 2 News reported that “each customer should expect to see a payment of at least $15, but payments could be as high as $100.” The amount of the payout depends on how many eligible people sign up to receive their portion as members of this class action lawsuit.
